Um, I forgot 7 people talked of spy - Libby

WASHINGTON - Borrowing a defense used by tax evaders and schoolkids who don't do their homework, Vice President Cheney's indicted former top adviser told a grand jury he forgot that seven people told him about CIA spy Valerie Plame.
Lewis (Scooter) Libby is charged with lying to FBI agents and a federal grand jury about how he first learned of Plame's identity. Cheney, his boss, was among those who told Libby that an Iraq war critic's wife worked at the CIA, prosecutors allege.

...

On March 5, 2004, a prosecutor asked Libby if it was "fair" to say he knew Plame's CIA identity a month before Russert supposedly revealed it to him.

"I had forgotten it," Libby explained.

Solomon Wisenberg, a lawyer who probed the Monica Lewinsky scandal, said, "Barring some unusual mental condition, to make a claim like that is not likely going to fly."

...

In the case of Libby's chats with Cheney about Wilson - such as one after he spoke to Russert - he said, "When I had that conversation I had forgotten about the earlier conversations in which told me ... that the wife worked at the CIA."

1. How did a guy who's suffering from Alzheimer's ever make it
this far. He's starting to sound like Ronald Reagan at the Iran-Contra hearings.

3. An interesting question -
Do you imply that the Veep's chief-of-staff is further up on the career ladder than the Presidency?

5. Funny, I heard Libby has incredible powers of memory.
That's why be served as chief of staff for the most active vice president in US history, with a side job acting as an advisor to the President.

While you're at it, remember that Karl forgot who he heard Plame's name from, too. Waaaaay too busy to remember details. Stunning they can remember where they parked isn't it? :eyes:

6. I laughed at the Waas excerpts of Rove's testimony too.

Those Grand Jury jurors must've felt Rove and Libby treated them like the dumbest idiots to ever grace this green Earth.

I'm glad, because the jurors now handling the Rove case can seethe and harbor a deep desire to wipe that smug smile off Rove's face when they read what baloney he gave their predecessors.

Hmm, Fitz did call Rove to give all new baloney to the new jurors too didn't he. Good move.

8. Best in Show
"According to sources, Rove told the FBI and testified to the federal grand jury that he first heard that Plame worked for the CIA from a person whose name he could not remember. That person, he said, might have been a journalist, although he was not certain. Rove has also said that he could not recall whether the conversation took place in person or over the telephone."

No one knows who told them. Just a tip, maybe even gossip. It might have been a phone call, it might have been in person. It's all just too much for his poor addlepated brain to keep up with. Poor, overworked Karl.

BTW, I love the visual of Rove supposedly scratching his head trying to figure out what the heck Novakula's "curious conversation" could possibly have been about.

7. Enough with Libby! Where are the Rove indictments? Dough-boy should NOT
derserve a 'get out of jail free.' He was DEFINITELY the 'mind' behind this...among others in the inner-circle.
