White House compares illegal immigration to speeding
http://www.examiner.com/a-120123~White_House_compares_illegal_immigration_to_speeding.html

The White House on Friday said a Senate bill that would grant legal status to illegal immigrants is analogous to a traffic law that allows a speeder to pay a fine and continue driving.

"If you had a traffic ticket and you paid it, you're not forever a speeder, are you?" White House Press Secretary Tony Snow said in response to questions from The Examiner.

"So the fact is, you have paid your debt to society," he added. "And we have come up with a way to make sure that the debt to society gets paid. Then you move forward."

The "traffic ticket" analogy raised eyebrows on Capitol Hill, where many House Republicans regard illegal immigration as a grave crime.

"I don't know if Tony meant to trivialize it or not," said Will Adams, spokesman for Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo. "But it's certainly misleading."

1. Democrats should sit back and watch
the corporatists and racists slug each other.

Then portray this image to the American people saying "This is the honor that Bush would restore to the White House?"

7. Yes. That's exactly what they do. This is Bush's "Burning Issue"
This is a hot button issue created by Karl Rove for election time that turned into a river of shit for the Republicans.

Muntrv, your advice is EXACTLY what the Democrats should do which is NOTHING.

They made this bed, let them lie in it.

3. Cant say this surprise's me too much
Illegal immigration is a problem. But what the heck Legal immigration is a problem too. From what Bush has been spouting I am not surprised. Why doesn't he just hand back Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and Southern California to Vincente Fox? He might just as well the way things are going.

9. Sshhhhhh!
Don't say that too loud. I think that's what Bush's trying to do now.

Bush would really like all Americans to work for the slave labor wages illegal immigrants work for. Since they won't, he'd wants to let in as many illegal immigrants as possible to force Americans to work for less.

4. Speeding tickets never stopped me. And is anyone following laws
Edited on Fri May-26-06 04:50 PM by FloridaPat
in this country? No repubs seem to be. Now it's ok to sneak in across the border. Why not just through out all the laws?

And this is not to compare sneaking across the border to treason that our gov't officials are doing. If I had a choice, I vote for the illegals. I want the real criminals in jail - the traitors.

6. According to Insurance Companies nowadays, you ARE forever a speeder.
They do data mining and have a collective database that DOES mark you a speeder forever. It used to be that they got their info from the Department of Licensing and records were only given for 3 years back (in WA). Now there's a collective database that they can pull your entire history from.

Gotta love technology...
