E-Mails Detail Abramoff Requests, Contacts
E-Mails Detail Abramoff Requests, Contacts

By JOHN SOLOMON
The Associated Press
Saturday, June 24, 2006; 3:13 PM

WASHINGTON -- Wanted: Face time with President Bush or top adviser Karl Rove.
Suggested donation: $100,000. The middleman: lobbyist Jack Abramoff. Blunt
e-mails that connect money and access in Washington show that prominent
Republican activist Grover Norquist facilitated some administration contacts
for Abramoff's clients while the lobbyist simultaneously solicited those clients
for large donations to Norquist's tax-exempt group.

Those who were solicited or landed administration introductions included foreign
figures and American Indian tribes, according to e-mails gathered by Senate
investigators and federal prosecutors or obtained independently by The Associated
Press.

"Can the tribes contribute $100,000 for the effort to bring state legislatures and
those tribal leaders who have passed Bush resolutions to Washington?" Norquist wrote
Abramoff in one such e-mail in July 2002.

"When I have funding, I will ask Karl Rove for a date with the president. Karl has
already said 'yes' in principle and knows you organized this last time and hope
to this year," Norquist wrote in the e-mail.

2. Keep singing Jack
Especially now that Kidan admits he knows who murdered Gus Boulis and the judge just delayed your sentencing hearing. It must be a very good tune.

Abramoff Buddy: Killer Of Businessman Is Dead
He says Gotti crony who killed SunCruz Casinos founder was slain in 2003.

The Associated Press

FORT LAUDERDALE -- An associate of John Gotti killed three years ago was the person who fatally shot SunCruz Casinos founder Konstantinos "Gus" Boulis in 2001, according to a partner in the purchase of the gambling boat company.

Adam Kidan, who bought SunCruz from Boulis with lobbyist Jack Abramoff in 2000, told authorities in a taped interview May 1 that John Gurino was the person who shot Boulis, said Art Carbo, an investigator with the Broward County State Attorney's Office and a former Fort Lauderdale detective on the case.

"He came up with all of this information," Carbo told The Associated Press on Friday. "That name had never come up before that."

Earlier this year, Kidan and Abramoff pleaded guilty to fraud and conspiracy charges stemming from the SunCruz purchase.

Court Grants Request to Question Abramoff in SunCruz Slaying Trial

Associated Press
Saturday, March 25, 2006; Page A20

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., March 24 -- A judge has approved subpoenas for ex-lobbyist Jack Abramoff and a former business partner to answer questions about the mob-style slaying of the owner of a gambling fleet they bought.

Abramoff and Adam Kidan have insisted, through their attorneys, that they know nothing about the slaying of Konstantinos "Gus" Boulis, who was ambushed in his car by a gunman in Fort Lauderdale a few months after the pair bought SunCruz Casinos from him...

...An attorney for Anthony "Big Tony" Moscatiello, one of three men charged in the 2001 slaying, wants to question Abramoff and Kidan, according to court documents. Circuit Judge Michael Kaplan approved the request Thursday, but the subpoenas had not been issued as of Friday.

Abramoff and Kidan are not charged in the slaying...

Thanks for updating me.

16. Good heavens, things have been charging ahead
without me.

From one of your links:

... Ferrari said Wagner's death could be arranged to look like an accident, using a stolen truck to slam into her car, Kidan said.

"I said, `You already killed one person, how are you going to kill someone else and get away with it?'" Kidan said during his 21/2-hour statement to Fort Lauderdale police and the lead prosecutor in the case.

Kidan talked to authorities as a condition of his plea deal for bank fraud charges tied to the purchase of SunCruz from Boulis. He has been sentenced to 70 months in prison on those charges and could get his sentence reduced by cooperating.

12. Here's part of my blog
I apologize for it being so large but if it were smaller you wouldn't be able to read it. It's interesting how Kidan mentions Lil Tony as being the trigger man, but the other articles pins it on a dead man.
Also Kidan has claimed his innocence in all this yet he met with his hit men just a few months after the murder of Gus.

Just weeks after the murder of SunCruz Casino founder Konstantinos "Gus" Boulis, a suspect in the slaying suggested using a dump truck to kill the company's former chief financial officer, a Boulis business rival told authorities.

Anthony "Little Tony" Ferrari believed longtime Boulis associate, Joan Wagner, needed to be killed, removing her from the fight over control of the Dania Beach-based gambling ship fleet, Adam Kidan said in a taped May 1 statement to police. Kidan and Boulis had been warring over the company at the time of Boulis' Feb. 6, 2001, killing and Boulis' business associates had continued the fight.

19. I have to agree with Fiorello's attorney:
snip: Fiorillo's attorney, Assistant Public Defender H. Dohn Williams, questioned Thursday the credibility of Kidan's statement. In a March 2001 statement to Fort Lauderdale police, Kidan denied knowing anything about the murder.

"My question is: If he wasn't involved in this, why would these people make these damaging and damning admissions to him?" Williams said.

22. Thank you.
So it looks as though Kidan fingering Gurino is to shift the blame/suspicion.

There were two men who disappeared quite a while back. I don't know their names. They may have gone into witness protection.

I read about them around the same time I was reading about all the catering payments.

is more corrupt than the mob, IMHO

If we had just one Senator from each state elected w/ strictly public campaign financing we'd

reduce the deficit

enable universal health care insurance like most of the civilized world

start cleaning up the culture of corruption, bribery and extortion that is the basis of our so-called fair elections in this "democracy"

Plus stick it out to the bottom:

That is why we need to move the scandal focus to CNMI and the human trafficking, forced prostitution, forced abortions and labor abuse that the GOP used to fund their rise to power over the last twelve years.

One great way to help drive that focus is to support H.R. 5550, the Human Dignity Act.

The Bill would extend US labor, immigration and custom laws to the rogue US Territory: the Commonwealth of North Mariana Islands (CNMI). This is the legislation Abramoff, DeLay and the GOP have blocked for more than a decade. Justice is long overdue.

So far there ONLY 24 Members of Congress joining with George Miller as Co-Sponsors of this Bill, they are:

Edited on Sun Jun-25-06 12:41 PM by leveymg
The article references Grover hitting up an unspecified African leader for $100,000 donation to ATR. Likely he was working with Abramoff, and Jack was senior partner in that deal. See, below:
