Rasmussen: Bush Job Approval (#s Drop For 4th Consecutive Day)
June 26, 2006

Forty-one percent (41%) of Americans approve of the way that George W. Bush is performing his role as President.

Fifty-seven percent (57%) disapprove.

After reaching 44% approval on Friday the president's approval rating has fallen back to where it has been most of the month.

I know, specious poll and all that. But if the "Bush is back" hype had in any way translated into even the slightest impetus upward for The Little President, Rasmussen would have spiked him as high as statistically possible. Instead he's right back to where he has been in this poll for the past two months. This is bad news for the Lyin' Right.

1. Historically
Democratic issues poll better on weekends, while Republican issues peak during the week.

3. His little jaunt to Iraq
didn't help much. And the great capture of those homegrown terrorist in Miami backfired. What's left, Diebold the polling process?

4. As we've discussed before, "Rasmussen" skews Right, and "adjusts up"
Shrub's popularity CONSISTENTLY.

I still assert he has NEVER...in the REAL word...had "approval numbers" above 30's since his election (even BEFORE 9/11)...no matter what the "polls" show.

"40's"...in his dreams!

7. Polls are still useful
The show the trend. Even a right-wing outfit, if its sampling methods are solid, can give usable data. Attempts to skew the polls come back to bite them in the ass. Falling from artificially high levels requires comparably large drops.

If you look at one of the composite polling graphs, you can see that Bush's popularity peaked on 9/12/01, had a secondary peak when he launched the liberation/occupation of Iraq, but has been consistently downward.

You can't fault people too much for giving a president the benefit of the doubt "in wartime". Sure, those folks may be dumb, but they have the best interests of the USA at heart. But people learn, and they've learned that Bush has worked that "wartime" chant like a cheap streetwalker. Nobody respects him anymore except for the most base of his base.

Let the pollsters skew those results all they want. They'll just keep falling all that much longer.
