Teens say suspect their pimp
Expert says up to 600 children work city streets nightly

Two teenagers testifying in a child sex-trafficking trial are like hundreds of child prostitutes working the Houston streets in a struggle for survival, an expert on child prostitution said Wednesday.

The children often willingly become prostitutes because they are fending for themselves on the streets, are abandoned by adults, and have no other way to feed themselves, said Sam Quattrochi, superintendent of the Letot Center in Dallas.

Quattrochi testified on the third day of the trial of George "Unique" Anderson III, 28, of Houston on two counts of sex trafficking of children.

A 16-year-old girl from West Palm Beach, Fla., and a 15-year-old girl from Beaumont testified Tuesday that Anderson was their pimp when they were arrested separately for prostitution last year.

DU'ers may remember George W. Bush has issued statements charging OTHER COUNTRIES with having problems with child prostitution several times during his pResidency. Looks as if he has been flinging stones while forgetting his own house is surely made of glass.

2. Notice the wierd rift between social services and those in need.
The child prostitutes couldn't get in the treatment program until somebody got caught by the cops...Why when these kids were on the streets in the first place did they have no idea about the social services? Its a serious problem.

8. So what's weird about It? Ever been to a group home?`
To be fair there are group homes that are well run with caring, engaged, supervision. There are also many, many, group and foster homes that are roach-infested hellholes run by borderline psychotics. Ask at any rape counseling center how safe group homes and foster homes are; you'll be sickened by the answer.

Rember the kids in Florida that the state foster agency lost? When's the last time any company lost a bill you owed?

I cannot get the police to respond to drug sales in apartment buildings two doors down from apartments with kids or in houses with 4 year olds in them. Do you think anyone gives a shit about kids being placed in houses where the standards are filth, noise, roaches and chaos?

Not in America. That's why these kids are turning tricks.

11. Yeah, I work in social services.
But in my state, the standards for DD people and especially kids are pretty high. I've got freinds who work directly with youth (my area has been DD) and the social programs are really decent, compared with street walking. I'll bet these kids thought they were trapped in what they were doing, that they didn't have options. :(

4. That story has almost been revealed time after time, only to be swept
back under the rug.

Thank you for the link.

5. What was the story that was deleted?
Perhaps the link led accidently to some pornography, but I'm curious what it was about.

Lost Franklin Cover-Up documentary “Conspiracy of Silence” found - watch it here
The lost Discover Channel documentary “Conspiracy of Silence”, about the so-called “Franklin Cover-Up” of a powerful child prostitution ring in Nebraska, has been discovered on YouTube. Here’s the background info:

“Conspiracy of Silence”, a documentary listed for viewing in TV Guide Magazine was to be aired on the Discovery Channel, on May 3, 1994. This documentary exposed a network of religious leaders and Washington politicians who flew children to Washington D.C. for sex orgies.

Many children suffered the indignity of wearing nothing but their underwear and a number displayed on a piece of cardboard hanging from their necks when being auctioned off to foreigners in Las Vegas, Nevada and Toronto, Canada.

At the last minute before airing, unknown congressmen threatened the TV Cable industry with restrictive legislation if this documentary was aired. Almost immediately, the rights to the documentary were purchased by unknown persons who had ordered all copies destroyed.

A copy of this videotape was furnished anonymously to former Nebraska state senator and attorney John De Camp who made it available to retired FBI Agent Ted L. Gunderson. While the video quality is not top grade, this tape is a blockbuster in what is revealed by the participants involved.

6. Sadly, our children are
becoming marketable commodities, and there does not seem to be much outrage over things like this...we're too worried gay people may marry...:wtf:

7. Childen Of The Night
25 years ago I lived in Hollywood, Ca, not Florda. The corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Las Palmas was supposed to be the runaway capital of America. Children Of The Night was a program that attempted to get them off the streets and into some kind of shelter. Daybreak, here in Dayton, Ohio, is 31 years old. This is an age old problem, or should I say an age young problem. Why is it seemingly just coming to light in Texas?

12. This is a problem in every big city
Social services cannot take custody of a child without a court order, either from the CPS side or the delinqency side of things. Even if we did get custody of a teenager who is a prostitute, we can't lock up a kid who's legal status is that of a foster kid without there being a definitive psychiatric diagnosis. So, the girl runs away and is right back on the streets again. We put her name and picture on our website, we get writs of apprehension and the police pick her up and we go through the whole thing again. If we file a delinquency petition (which is actually a recent policy development in the last few years), the court generally puts the kid in the youth home for a few days and sends them back to the foster care program. It's a vicious circle.

In Detroit, there is an agency called Alternatives For Girls that has a van that goes out at night to do outreach with teen and young adult prostitutes, usually on the west side on Michigan AVE. They have a shelter, they distribute food and condoms, but they try to talk the girls out of their lifestyle and into coming into their program. They work with the police, too, and with DHS (us). There are also programs like Covenant House (which I know had a pedophile priest scandal a while back in NYC, but has been a pretty good agency for the last few years) and other runaway shelters.
