Bush/Berlusconi press conference - Monday 12:10 p.m. EST
Edited on Mon Jul-21-03 12:24 PM by doxieone
12:10 pm: President Bush and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi hold joint press conference, Crawford, Texas

Well, it was scheduled for 12:10 and Team Bush seems to be running a bit behind schedule.

Wolf on CNN just said it is to begin shortly (time he said that was 12:20 p.m. EST).

============================

EDIT

WAIT A DANG MINUTE guys. The press conference IS going on. I guess we can't see it until the tape is done.

Look at what I just saw.

CRAWFORD, Texas - President Bush (news - web sites) on Monday accused the governments of Syria and Iran of continuing to harbor terrorists.

"This behavior is completely unacceptable," Bush said in a joint news conference on his Texas ranch with Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi. "States that continue to harbor terrorists will be held completely accountable."

1. Stop calling them press conferences....
until someone gets to ask a meaningful question!!

My guess:
Berlusconi makes typical mundane remarks......Smirky delivers "terrist" speech for the 674th time in a row.

Sudden thought: that brings a whole new meaning to the term "stump speech". Stumped? Give the same speech you gave on 9/12/01.

9. It's not that unusual
Politicians release texts to their prepared statements and the wires prints up articles as if the events have already happened. It's a daily occurance and not anything to worry about.

6. Two Of A Kind
Hey, whadda ya know?

Two wealthy dim-wits who are embarassments to their respective countries in the same place at the same time! Maybe George and Silvio will brainstorm up some more "bring'em on" and "Nazi concentration camp guard" sound bites to show off their compassion, leadership, and bravery.

13. I wonder what
he thinks is so funny? He looks and acts like he can hardly keep from breaking out in giggles. Maybe all the news of death and destruction on tv this a.m in Liberia and Iraq.

15. Yes,
maybe he was picturing everyone in the room naked.....

or maybe he was looking at himself on a monitor?

At one point, he started chewing on the inside of his cheek, as if someone had sent him a signal to get serious.

11. Mussolini, I mean, Berlusconi and Bush will get along well. 2 fascists.
"Fascism should more appropriately be called corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power." -- Benito Mussolini

"The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic State itself. That, in its essence, is Fascism -- ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or any controlling private power." -- Franklin D. Roosevelt
