US service member dies from gunshot wound in Afghanistan
KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (CNN) -- A U.S. service member serving in Afghanistan died Sunday from a gunshot wound north of Kabul in Balkh province, a NATO statement said.

The soldier was part of NATO's International Security Assistance Force, a deployment throughout Afghanistan consisting of many nationalities.

"The incident is under investigation by military authorities," ISAF said.

Feb 11 (Reuters) - A U.S. soldier died of a gunshot wound on Sunday in the normally safe northern Afghan province of Balkh, which borders Uzbekistan, the U.S. military said in a statement.
