Venezuela Greening Fuel Programs
Caracas, Feb 12 (Prensa Latina) Venezuela is currently boosting projects dedicated to the production of bio-fuels as part of an environmentally-friendly energy agenda.
In the framework of that initiative, the state Petroleos de Venezuela supports the sowing of some 280,000 hectares of sugar cane in the country's 12 states, to have the necessary raw material to produce ethanol.
The program considers that those actions will be implemented between 2007 and 2009 in territories like Zulia, Barinas, Trujillo, Portuguesa, Cojedes, Anzoategui, Guarico and Monagas, among others.
The product will be able to mix with gasoline to obtain a less contaminating blend.
To obtain this product, the country will build 15 to 17 plants to obtain ethanol from fermentation of glucose in sectors like corn, sugar cane, beet, and yucca, among others.
