AP Poll: Bush Gets Good Marks for Economy
By WILL LESTER, Associated Press Writer

2. DOW
How can Bush get credit for the DOW going over 10000. I mean how hard would it be for all those rich people to just buy a bunch of stocks to push it over 10000. How stupid do they think we are?

28. Well, it should have been...
IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN AROUND 11,000 or higher at that time. Bush can't get credit if the dow closes at a record high in the months to come. THINK, what can we do to keep bush from getting credit he clearly does not deserve. PLEASE HELP!

5. the DOW is up, NASDAQ and S&P are down or average.
Gold is up in price, that is the thing to watch more than the DOW. Last week the Japaneese bought I think $300,000,000 worth of U.S. treasuries to keep the Yen at 107 or more per Dollar. When the Yen went back to 108 per Dollar, they started to sell. Russia and Venezuela are looking at going to the Euro and away from the Dollar. George Soros and Warren Buffet have started to pull their money out of the Dollar and started to put it into other currencies and metals. The U.S. is laying off people, and they are depleating their reserves of gold. China is building their reserves of gold and propping up the dollar, why? China holds a lot of merchandise that the U.S. buys and a falling dollar means lost profits for China, same with Japan. There is a perfect storm brewing people, don't be fooled by UE numbers being down.

6. The worse the country gets, the more popular Bush gets. Wow!
I assume that if Bush were to destroy the entire planet in a nuclear holocaust, that Bush poll numbers will soar as high as the mushroom clouds.

Either the polls are crazy, or the entire country has gone insane!

29. Just shows
It just shows how dangerous conservatives are and how their forms of thought control pervert when they start telling people how and what to think. Bush is dangerous and this world is in big trouble if he is still in the whitehouse in 2004

22. The Dow has nothing to do with employment and disposable income
but now the republican greed pigs base economic performance on how the richest Americans are doing. He is creating Mexico and Latin America right here. The poorer we get the richere the rich get. G.O.P. stands for greedy old pigs.

Corporatism plus Conservatism = Totalitarianism

3. In his approval rating they mixed everybody in there
They put strongly agree, agree and unsure into the economy getting better. That made up 55%. If you take out the unsures, that gives him a 36% approval on the economy and put them in disapprove area,61% disapproval on the economy. Tonight on the news the report was that shopping was down by 15% at the stores this Christmas. So the consumer confidence is not what they are saying it is in this report, or this report is very misleading.

30. I think the danger is real
Bush has turned so many nations against us that I would not be surprised if we are attacked. I hope Bush will be blamed if it happens. This time lets try to react with understanding and diplomacy.

19. That spin is a little too hard.
Edited on Mon Dec-22-03 08:34 AM by Frodo
The category was "initially reported mixed feelings but leaned toward 'approval'".

It would be a little much to lump them in with "disapproval" as you did.

A better solution would be to just ignore them and say 42% "approval" 43% "disapproval" 13% "undecided but seeing some improvement" since "disapproval" is down 8% in a month.

on baby busshee's report card?
This unemployment thing will eventually awaken people to the idea that the polls must be false--too many people out of work. They can say it's getting better all they want, Are people just idiots?

16. But, but, but, when 60 minutes interviewed Edwards...
I couldn't believe the five minutes I listened to Leslie Stahl "interview" (more like attack) John Edwards. She said something like Bush had taken away all of the Dem's issues and the economy was, get this, are you ready for it? The Economy is roaring!! And she said it with this incredulous look on her face, like Edwards was a liar if he didn't agree.

I used to hold out hope for 60 minutes to stick with the fairness thing, no more.

For the most part sixty minutes does the bidding of the network. Perhaps just as entertaining as professional wrestling is to the mindless.

26. Yeah, roaring like a stuck pig
just before it dies. Most of my friends and family called or wrote this year to say that they didn't want to exchange gifts over Christmas because their budgets wouldn't permit it. The animation studio I worked for closed down, leaving over 700 unemployed-many of whom are now underbidding me on work. Now I have to lower my prices or become unemployed myself. :-( My family members who worked for the state all lost their jobs too, and our health insurance costs just keep skyrocketing. Way to go, Shrub!

21. this is what we are up against
even though the economy is still crappier than what he inherited by far, any improvement he gets credit for. Americans have notoriously short memories. Heck, who remebers anything about Bush lying in his sotu message last year? Democrats let that fall by the wayside too.

23. They are pulling us into Fascism Latin American style with the lies
in the news. I lived in Mexico for 2 years as a student in the late 60s and no one believed anything in the news, and we are rushing to become just like them now: fascism and no middle class.

24. "Gas prices have gone down a little bit"?
Well, heck feller, grab somethin' substantial, because both gasoline and natural gas are set for a wild ride - gas just about now, and gasoline in the spring.

And 13% LEAN toward approval? Then they ain't there yet! That leaves 42% of some sort of "real" approval for the future economy, since the poll makes it clear that all these wonderful things will happen in the next six months.

Proof once again that figures don't lie, but liars figure.

25. And at some future date
it will only cost our grandchildren $500 Billion plus
interest. Nice going GW, a perfect copy of Raygun.
The "birth tax" (national debt) just keeps going up
and up and the dollar's value down and down.
Again, Nixon's economists, "Seldom correct, but never
in doubt."
