Wolfowitz Vows to Stay at World Bank
Source: Chron/AP

WASHINGTON — Embattled World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz said Sunday he will continue to lead bank efforts to reduce global poverty, resisting calls to step down over his involvement in securing a huge pay increase for a close female friend.

"The bank has important work to do and I will continue to do it," he said at a news conference winding up a meeting of the steering committee for the bank and the International Monetary Fund.

The committee said in its closing communique the Wolfowitz issue was "of great concern to us all" and called on the bank board looking into the matter to complete its work.

"We have to ensure that the bank can effectively carry out its mandate and maintain its credibility and reputation as well as the motivation of its staff," the committee said.

1. The entire world is sick of these corrupt Bush mafia lackeys.
You can have your job back when the Iraq war pays for itself, Wolf-shit.

2. He can vow all he wants, I think he's going to be released
anyway. I think he must be in denial. Time will tell though.

It doesn't surprise me
and doesn't upset me.

Based on past experience, BushCo would just nominate as a replacement someone even worse than Wolfowitz.

It was impossible to think we could get an AG worse than Ashcroft. But then there was Gonzo.

4. I haven't forgotten that an American got the job because it was "the US' turn"
therefore if Wolfowitz resigns, Bush will most assuredly demand the right to name the replacement himself.

I'm not looking forward to who Bush thinks will do a "better" job.

5. Vows.
MSM always says someone is" VOWing" stuff. Every week, a different vow.

Don't they ever write like regular people speak?

I mean it sounds so fire and brimstony, like: He VOWS to keep his job or else he'll slash his wrists!

This is a much better headline:

The arrogant, warmongering, architect of the war for profiteers in Iraq, won't step down from his position at the World Bank until the rest of his associates and family have the opportunity to steal it's funds.

See? Simple and no further comments necessary.

18. Correct
The prez has no honorable people in his circle. Worst of all they probably don't even know how corrupt they are. It's just been their way of life for so long. They think dishonorable actions are normal.
