Finnish Soldier, 3 Others Killed by Bomb

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - A bomb in northern Afghanistan killed
a Finnish soldier and an Afghan civilian Wednesday, while a suicide
attacker in the capital killed two people, including a policeman,
officials said.

The blast in the northern city of Maymana just 100 yards outside
a Norwegian-led base killed a Finnish soldier and slightly wounded
four Norwegian officers, the Norwegian military in Oslo said.

The soldiers had been on their way to a hospital for the opening
of a project, said Lt. Col. John Inge Oeglaend, a spokesman for
the Norwegian joint command. A civilian was also wounded, said
provincial police chief Khalil Ziyaeehe.

In the capital, Kabul, a suicide attacker on a motorbike blew
himself up next to highway police guarding a road construction
project, killing one policeman and a civilian, officials said.
