Tracing Source of Mad Cow Case Could Take Months, U.S. Says
NY Times

December 26, 2003

The Department of Agriculture said today that it could take weeks or months to trace where a dairy cow with the nation's first case of mad cow disease was born — and that investigators might not succeed at all.

That's a comfort? So can someone tell me how the hell our government was able to track down 18 hijackers in one day, but they might not be able to figure out where the hell this cow came from? This is ridiculous.

PS: Sorry about the link to the Times, you have to be registered to see it, but this is the only report so far that I saw with this particular gem of information.

We may never know the source of the Plame leak.

We may never know the source of the anthrax letters.

We may never know where Saddams WMD's reside.

We may never know who helped Cheney craft the energy policy.

Who knew but Rummy that there were so many unknowns that we may never know? Maybe the shadow knows.

With our plutocrats, it's either "moral clarity" or "aw, shucks, who knows?"

9. IOW
you're either with mad cowboy disease or again' it.

If I'm not mistaken there's an old saying in Texas, it might be in Tennassee...

and it goes something like this:

fool me once uhh, errr, won't get fooled again.

6. I don't think tracking the source of this one is as important as demanding
testing of all animals ASAP. We should be beating this into our reps in writing letters now. If it will only add a couple of cents per pound, and they seem to be confident in the testing, why the hell aren't we demanding it!

press and lying Bush administration.

If there's one cow, there's more - buy organic beef/milk - might as well include chicken/turkey too. farmers feed that deadly feed to them as well.

That bullshit about the infection only being in the brains, central nervous system, blood vessels is pure lies also. Like cows don't have any blood vessels and nerves in their muscle areas - please.

God, I'm glad I don't eat anything but organic beef/chicken and now pork too. A new store opened up in my neighborhood w/ organic pork products also.

11. We've been unkind to Bush. Let's send him a year's supply of beef
from Washington or wherever we think the source is located for a Christmas present. It may improve his disposition.

The technology, tracking and testing, has been available for some time. Cheapskate profiteers didn't want to add the marginal costs of protecting the public health to their overhead because it affects the bottom line. Due to the latency period all the industry vs the consumer bullshit arguments will be trotted out in the press.

The repukes will gear up their pro corporate anti consumer tort reform legislation again to head this thing off.
