Iraqi council members dispute whether Saddam is leading U-S to hidden fund

A member of the Iraqi Governing Council tells two Arabic newspapers that the former dictator admits he sent billions of dollars abroad before being overthrown. What's more, the council member says Saddam is giving interrogators names of people who know where the money is deposited.

How much money? The council member estimates Saddam deposited 40 billion dollars in banks in Switzerland, Germany, Japan and other countries.

That report however, is being contradicted by two other members of the same council. They say Saddam has said nothing about cash -- and if he did, Iraqi officials wouldn't talk about it.

Allawi was originally sponsored by Brits (MI6) while Chalabi got the ear of US CIA, both as expatriots.

Seems the family is jostling for control in light of the upcoming "handover"...

I think the Iraqis are smarter that we give them credit for. Had they the weapons to match us, they would outwit us on every turn. They are doing a hell of a job with what little they have.
