Abu Ghraib interrogation chief faces court-martial

WASHINGTON, Aug 18 (Reuters) - A court-martial will
start Monday for a U.S. Army intelligence officer
charged with abuses at Iraq's Abu Ghraib prison, where
he headed the interrogation center, the Army said on
Saturday.

The trial of Lt. Col. Steven Jordan will be convened at
Fort Meade, Maryland, outside Washington, the Army
said.

Jordan is charged with cruelty and maltreatment of
detainees as well as making false statements and
obstruction of justice, disobeying a superior officer
and failure to obey orders.

The charges stem from violations of the Uniformed Code
of Military Justice alleged to have taken place at the
Joint Interrogation Debriefing Center at Abu Ghraib on
or about Sept. 17, 2003 to Aug. 19, 2004.

A lawyer for Jordan could not immediately be reached
for comment.

Torture, what Torture. Wasent this type of pictures just soldies who take off some "steam" when they interigated "bad peopole" who definetly was guilty of the crimes they have been accoused off?

Or Was it the scandal who Rumsfeld, and the other top brass want to stop be known and they tryed to "wash it before they come to the public"?.. I know many denided the fact that ONE american soldiers war torturing, and even behave bad against their captivites

I do hope he get his time in a Trial, and I do hope that the outcome wil be justise. Even if you are a Colonel, or a General og even a FieldMarshall. You are indeed a man/woman who must treat the prisioner in your custidy with more than the "spirit" of the Genva-konvention..

It was strucken verry clear in the Nuremberg Trials where top brass of the German Whermact, was tried for crime against humanity and war crimes.. If you doing the crime, you are doing the TIME.. And it the cases of some of the most important military leades of the old Whermact, the trial ended in the death penalty, where they was hanged by the neck in 1946.

And I know it. The Nurenberg trials are STIL LEGAL DOKUMENT WHO THE REST OF THE INTERNATIONAL WARCRIMES-LAW are buildin all the laws on.. You can Ingore the INTERNATIONAL LAWS for a long time, but Soner or later the World of LAW is going to hit even the top brasses.. And theyr political leaders.. Just wait and se... It can be interesting to se if not many american generals have to be sited in Pentegon, and in the US becouse of the wanting of theyr arrest, for crimes against humanity who are been hold in the Haag International Criminal Court of Justise...
