Tillman's Wife: Real Leaders Needed
By PEGGY HARRIS 08.22.07, 8:54 PM ET

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The wife of NFL athlete-turned-Army Ranger Pat Tillman said Wednesday in her first public comments since her husband's death by friendly fire that the country needs "authentic leadership."

Saying that talking about her best friend was difficult, Marie Tillman told an audience at the University of Arkansas about the many good qualities of the NFL athlete and Army Ranger.

"Pat was a man with enormous talent. His athletic ability was matched by a deep and complex moral and intellectual side," said Marie Tillman, a featured speaker at the school. "He always tried to do the right thing and he was the first to admit when he didn't."

On Wednesday, Marie Tillman said her husband was dynamic and action-oriented, something needed in private and public life. "We are in need of authentic leadership on many levels," Marie Tillman said.

3. Another reason that Pat Tillman had to die: He would have been a formidable and most likely an
unbeatable candidate for any public office as a Democrat, including, yes, the Presidency.

I truly believe that....maybe not in '08, but I believe that he would have come back to the US and been at the forefront against this occupation and false War on Terror and he would have been unbeatable and unstoppable.

He represented true leadership and moral fiber.

8. He would couragiously lead people to demand change,
possibly testifying before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee (he would clearly be invited by the Chair, Biden if he didn't the Chair of the near east and middle east, Kerry, likely would.) The WH goons would in private say, "that they have to destroy him before he became another John Kerry."

After they would have tried that, he could then have triumph to gain a political position because of that true leadership, moral fiber, courage and intelligence. Then years later running for President, the former Bush people would attempt to swiftboat him - here, I would hope the parallel would end and the entire Democratic party would stand behind him and scream that this was an outrage and the media would follow.

7. She's safe for now.
But if she says much more, and says things in specific terms - like names, she'll get the Sheehan/Plame/Jersey Girl treatment by the media. Maybe Marie forced Pat to read Chomsky, they might say. Or maybe she hated America so much, Pat decided he'd rather sign up for the Army than stay home with a wife and great career. Or maybe, and this would be my guess, she was overcome with joy when she found out Pat was killed so she could get rich with a book contract. I heard she hired a publicist less than an hour ofter word of Pat's death reached her! GASP!

Tillman's wife: Real leaders needed

By PEGGY HARRIS, Associated Press Writer

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The country needs "authentic leadership," the wife of NFL athlete-turned-Army Ranger Pat Tillman said Wednesday in her first public comments since her husband was cut down by friendly fire.

Marie Tillman told the audience at the University of Arkansas that it was difficult to talk about her best friend, a man who was dynamic and action-oriented. "Pat was a man with enormous talent. His athletic ability was matched by a deep and complex moral and intellectual side," said Marie Tillman, a featured speaker at the Clinton School of Public Service. "He always tried to do the right thing, and he was the first to admit when he didn't."

Pat Tillman was killed April 22, 2004, by bullets fired by his fellow soldiers in Afghanistan, not by enemy fire, as the military initially claimed. The military said officers knew within hours that Tillman's death was from friendly fire but didn't tell his family or the public for five weeks.

Tillman's death attracted worldwide attention because he had walked away from a huge contract with the Arizona Cardinals to enlist after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

"Many things have changed since Pat decided to join the Army. And unfortunately, leadership on many levels has come into question," Marie Tillman said. "We are in need of authentic leadership on many levels, social, economic and political."

6. Well said Mrs Tillman,
keep telling it like it is, Mr Tillman was a role model is every sense of the word, although we can't share losing him on the same level as his family, he will be missed. Its not only great but appropriate that his wife and family keep reminding everyone how much, "We are in need of authentic leadership on many levels, social, economic and political."
