'Star Tribune' Outsourcing Display Ad Production To India
Source: E&P

Published: September 11, 2007 12:55 PM ET

CHICAGO The Minneapolis Star Tribune is outsourcing production of all its display ads to Express KCS, the Indian prepress agency.

Express now handles the ad production of more than 70 U.S. newspapers, including three California dailies, the San Jose Mercury News, Fresno Bee, and Oakland Tribune.

"Express KCS has a successful track record of providing on-time, quality ad production services to newspaper organizations," Mike Michurski, manager of ad operations at the Star Tribune, said in a statement. "We look forward to working with them to continue to meet the high quality production standards our customers expect from us."

The outsourcing resulted in the elimination of about 20 positions in the newspaper's ad production department.

1. Until America's cost of living is on par with India's, this trend can only continue.
That's why the cost of Indian providers is that much less compared to American providers!

10. Meaning: "Down to their level" instead of "up to par with ours".
"Up to par with ours" would never happen in a million years.

That would be utopia for corporations and the wealthy. Two-class society.

2. Meanwhile, the cost to get an Associates degree in ad design is $40,000...
in America. What's the cost to get one in India?

4. Someone was bashing Clinton on another thread for NAFTA
when ALL the good jobs in this country are being outsourced to Asia under Bush. Any jobs lost to Mexico in the last 20 years have also gone to China and India.

But some people still gotta bash Clinton.

8. What the fuck does your post have to do with the OP?
Edited on Tue Sep-11-07 11:03 PM by Solon
Are you saying that Clinton DIDN'T support NAFTA, or that it was signed under his watch? Gods forbid that we actually criticize those that DESERVE IT! Both parties have supported free trade in the past, so both are at fault for the condition of the American worker. It wasn't until in the past 2 or 3 election cycles that Democrats have even paid lip service to fair trade.
