Congress must approve U.S. attack vs Iran: Pelosi
Source: ABC News

President George W. Bush must seek congressional approval before taking any military action in Iran, unless Tehran attacks the United States first, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said on Sunday.

"We don't believe that any authorities that the president has would give him the ability to go in without an act of Congress," Pelosi told ABC's "This Week" program...

6. Unless Israel/US attack Iran, causing a retaliation, and we respond to their "unprovoked" attack
That's what Sy Hersh reported that Dick Cheney and Israel had discussed. Israel would secretly attack Iran, as they did Syria recently, Iran would retaliate against Israel and US bases in region. The US would scream foul, accusing Iran of an "unprovoked" attack. Bush will order a massive bombing campaign on Iran to the cheers of the Israel Lobby and of every Democratic and Republican politician in AIPAC's Rolodex.

Pelosi's track record rivals that of Neville Chamberlain in enabling tyranny. She ain't about to turn into a Winston Churchill.

14. Iran's geopolitical game has been much better than Israel's of late
Shrewd and patient as well.

Iran came out ahead in the British naval incursion as well the attempted frame up and arrest of Iranian diplomatic personnel.

Political ties between the Iraqi government and Iran are quite functional and Iran is talking to China and Russia to get out of the inevetible economic vice that U.S. will seek to tighten.

And as Lebanon showed the Israeli military machine is not flawless.

10. Good luck with that, Nancy.
Chimpy is going to do what ever Darth Dick wants him to do. You, Ms Speaker will do nothing but sit there and condemn the Ottoman-Turks, thank you very much.

Seriously, how badly does chimpy have to screw up before you do something? Chimpy swore to protect the Constitution, not to defend the "Murican People. Would you please get off your lazy ***t and do something about this, please?

11. So I guess they need another Pearl Harbor incident?
Let's see, the Gulf of Tonkin incident that gave Johnson the authority to get the USA involved in Vietnam, comes to mind. So if Nancy puts the screws to Bush, what do you think he will come up with? You know he will have to manufacture an incident.

15. Pelosi: No Military Action On Iran Without Congressional Approval
... We don't believe that any authorities that the president has would give him the ability to go in without an act of Congress," the California Democrat told ABC's "This Week" with George Stephanopoulos.

"Any president, if we are attacked, if our country is attacked has -- even under the War Powers Act -- very strong powers to go after that country. But short of that, he must come to the Congress," Pelosi said.

The San Francisco Democrat noted that President Bush had not requested any congressional authority to take action in Iran, even amid growing tensions with Tehran over the country's nuclear program and evidence that Iran is supporting insurgents in Iraq.

Pelosi said also that she has no plans to bring up for a vote a Senate-approved measure that would label Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps a terrorist organization. The measure is sponsored by Sens. Joseph Lieberman, I-Conn., and John Kyl, R-Ariz ...

19. "unless Tehran attacks the United States first"
More like, "unless there is a false flag blamed on Iran first, ala Gulf Of Tonkin."

I wish my countrymen would wake up to the criminals they are dealing with.

It's gotten to the point where it's useless to try and speak with people about such things. All I will say is the willful ignorance of most of the citizenry toward such is getting beyond tiresome.

Living in The Matrix and maintaining Wonderland Fanciful Visions of what they desperately want to believe about the government and what they are really up to is far more important and urgent than facing the mere possibility of a difficult truth or revelation.

It is not the Neocons who will destroy this country.

In the end it will be us.

Because we are quite content it seems to let them do it.

Just as long as we don't have to think about it, it's OK.

We now return you Dancing With The Stars.

Ahhhhh, MUCH better.

20. CODIFY THAT BELIEF, Nancy! Unless you make it law, he will do what he pleases...and even then...
If the Dems are really serious about preventing pre-emptive action against Iran, then they need to introduce legislation to make it CRIMINAL to attack Iran. Unless they do so, the Chimperior still will feel a free hand and argue that previous legislation covers his ass.
