Fairfax Voting Machines A 'Failure'
GOP Says County Was Unprepared, Urges State Control
By David Cho
Washington Post Staff Writer
Saturday, January 10, 2004; Page B01

<snip>

New touch-screen voting machines used in Fairfax County's local elections in November were a "failure," and county electoral officials were unprepared to deal with the equipment's problems, according to a county GOP committee report released yesterday.

In their report, Republican officials urged the county to investigate the "poor performance" of the machines, and they recommended state regulations that would require localities with the new equipment to follow stringent procedures.

"Neither the Fairfax County Electoral Board, nor the new voting machines was ready for Election Day," the report said. "The new touch screen machines were a technological and procedural failure."

1. Music to my ears..they were going to roll it out statewide....
I'm in VaBeach and would vote absentee if these new machines were put in place with no paper ballot backup.

I have been emailing and calling those in charge of making this decision, about the flaws in these machines, and was not taken seriously.

been tested down here in Pince Jeb's Fiefdom. Does anyone remember Jeb's mantra in his first admininistration "Government like a buisness". How about during his 2nd term inaugural speech "I would love to see the day when all government buildings are empty". They are running government just like a buissness, into the dirt. Remember, you get what you pay for! :hi:

On edit: Also remember the golden rule" Who ever owns the gold, makes the rules"
:kick:

5. Yup, notice the
intense media scrutiny of these "voting" machines once they screw over a rethug. They seem shocked that they possibly could have "counted votes" the "wrong" way. But wait, diebold assured us months ago we were the winners.

6. Exactly! Wanna guess how Northern Va. tends to vote?
Heavily Dem that's how.

I think the Va. GOPers need listen in on some more Va. Dem conference calls rather than openly try to change the vote count.

8. HB2239 and Senate bill 1980 require paper audit trail, please
write to your representative and senator and ask that they co-sponsor HB2239 and senate bill 1980! This is more important that who we get as a democrat candidate, because if our votes don't count the bloody corporations will be choosing our candidates!
Please take the time to write or fax.
