Conn. Republican Senator Calls on Rowland (R) to Resign
I hate the guy, but I guess a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while...

-snip-

HARTFORD, Conn. - Republican Rep. Rob Simmons on Saturday became the first member of Connecticut's congressional delegation to call on Gov. John G. Rowland to resign, saying the governor had lost his "moral authority" to lead.

"The reason I believe Gov. Rowland should resign is because his words and his actions can no longer be trusted. He lied," Simmons said Saturday. "This impeaches his moral authority to lead the state."

Rowland, also a Republican, has faced increasing calls for his resignation and threats of impeachment since he admitted accepting gifts to improve his lakefront summer cottage from politically appointed state employees, friends and a state contractor.

He at first denied the allegation, then later said he misspoke. Last week, Rowland gave a televised speech in which he admitted he had lied and apologized for doing so.

U.S. Rep. Christopher Shays, a Republican who has been sharply critical of Rowland, planned a news conference Monday to discuss the governor's situation.

3. a republican, talking about "moral authority"
dissing Rowland because "he lied" while no doubt supporting everything our thieving, lying piece of shit "president" does. It would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic.

4. Funny story
Simmons sits on the House Intelligence Committie. In 2002, a major anti-war figure whose name I forgot, asked him after a meeting about a proposal given to the committie about possibly reinstating the draft.

He claimed he knew nothing about it. This is a former CIA man to boot.

5. ......He lied?
Accepting bribes and/or gifts is one thing....but a congressman saying he should resign??? What a crock. If that's the standard for leaving office, then Washington DC would be empty...of both parties.

6. This is good.
The only other news we out-of-staters got was that the Democrats were caucusing to impeach him.

Now even his own party admits that he is a liability. This is good.

8. Let'em wait a few months...
If he would rather let this drag on closer to election time, that's fine with me.

7. Simmons is Congressman 2nd district. Former Phoenix program (CIA(
operative. Very close to Bush, but an independent thinker in many ways. Defeated Sam Gejdensen in an ugly race over Native rights (Simmons was the anti-Native rights dude).

Got to know Gejdensen when I worked in Congress -- he was a Bush victim.

But Simmons is right -- Rowland should go. Hes a slimy, wife beating crook.

So Simmons should be applauded for saying this. Rowland was becoming a liability to Bush and he is WAY tainted with ties also to Carlyle.

Liker Hitler, Bush begins to execute his own when it is expedient (and uses his intelligence operatives to dispatch him)

Interesting

9. Not a Senator - a Congressman
Connecticut's two Senators, Joe Lieberman and Chris Dodd, are Democrats. Or at least they claim to be.

Rob Simmons is a member of the House.
