Milton profit up 82 per cent, says economy sound

MILTON Corporation has reported an 82 per cent rise in first-half profit and says the Australian economy remains sound.

But the listed investment company expects the rate of profit growth among Australian companies to slow.

Net earnings for six months to December 31 jumped 81.7 per cent to $75.604 million.

Net operating profit, which excludes gains on the sale of investments, rose 19.3 per cent to $41.153 million.

"The economy remains sound and generally companies are generating increasing profits," chairman Robert Millner said.
