Lawyers in 1975 AIM slaying spar over DNA evidence
Source: AP

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The defense lawyer for a Canadian man charged with killing Anna Mae Pictou Aquash 32 years ago wants a federal judge to allow DNA testing in hopes it points to someone other than his client, according to court documents.

<snip>

Graham’s lawyer, John Murphy, has filed court documents asking a judge to make the government reveal the location of and make available for testing Aquash’s underwear and a sanitary napkin said to be taken at the first autopsy.

In their response, federal prosecutors Marty Jackley and Bob Mandel wrote the government never had possession of the pad, nor were investigators obligated to keep it.

‘‘There was not a scientific basis for the pathologist to retain that for DNA evidence at the time the autopsy was performed in 1976,’’ they wrote.

Is there anyone on this entire website besides me who gives a damn about this case? Everytime I post an update, the thread just dies. Come on people, try to muster up some sense of outrage that it has taken over 30 years for this woman's daughters to try and get justice for their mother. And, oh yeah, Dennis Banks is probably up to his neck in it and will never be touched.

6. If you knew the whole story then the Banks connection makes sense
Annie Mae was his mistress for a time, he was the head of AIM, along with Russell Means, and nothing, I mean NO-THING would have been done to someone suspected of being a government informant without at least his knowledge, if not approval. His involvement in this very appalling episode of AIM history will never see the light of day, I'm sure of it.

5. This happened a long time ago. Only a few of us remember this crime.
And don't feel bad, this place has turned into a cesspool where all that matters his Hils fans calling Obamites names and making comments on each other's character and lack of intelligence.

Maybe something will come of this now with the demand for DNA. Just have to wait and see. Just keep posting and I hope I'll see them.

7. You got that right
But I'm sure that her daughters who had to grow up without a mother care more about their mother's murder case than Democratic infighting. I think about them when I post these stories, and they are why I get so upset. That and the fact that she was raped and murdered for no reason, and the disrespectful way her remains were treated afterward.
