McCain flashes temper at reporter
Source: Associated Press

NEW ORLEANS - Republican Sen. John McCain, showing a flash of the temper he is known for, repeatedly cut off a reporter Friday when asked whether he had spoken to Democratic Sen. John Kerry about being his vice president in 2004. "Everybody knows that I had a private conversation. Everybody knows that, that I had a conversation," McCain told the reporter. "And you know it, too. No. You know it, too. No. You do know. You do know."

The reporter, Elisabeth Bumiller of The New York Times, was following up on a question McCain had answered at a campaign event Friday morning in Atlanta. Asked if he might consider Kerry as a running mate, since Kerry asked him in 2004, McCain said no.

Afterward, on a campaign flight, Bumiller said she looked in the Times' archives and that McCain had denied talking with Kerry in a May 2004 story.

McCain interrupted, saying that everyone knew he had a private conversation, and he kept interrupting as she tried to follow up. McCain clearly was irate.

7. I watched the video
The best part is at the end when the reporter asks McGrumpy why he's so angry. Unfortunately she backs down on that one.

15. This IS the number 1 campaign story, right? RIGHT?
With plenty of follow-ups about his emotional instability, his willingness to joke about slaughtering people with bombs, the number of times he's had to write apologetic letters to Senators he's told to "fuck off"... right?

18. I think the media is looking forward to this story as much as we are.
I say this because McCain didn't look all that bad to me in the video of this instance. Annoying, yes, unlikable, yes. But not furious or out of control. So the fact that this is getting coverage now, over such a tiny incident, means they're all on McCain Temper Watch. :)

22. A little testy
Is this what we can expect say, if this man became Prez? Boy, he would sure help our now shaky relations with foreign nations. This is really not just a "bad" moment for Johnny-he really does have a incredibly bad temper and in my humble opinion does not need to be representing our nation in any way, shape or form. Just another reason for dems to pull together, look at the big picture and defeat the Repubs in November.

24. Geez I hate to defend McCain but I saw that clip
I didn't see him as any angrier that Bill Clinton was a few weeks ago at CNN reporter. McCain's temper is a legitimate issue but I don't this was a good example.

25. me 2
i thought it was going to be WAY WAY better than it was.

this is barely worth a mention

mccain has a famously short and volatile temper. i would love to see an example splashed in the media, but this wasn't it

this is right up there with some of those ones used against hilary that were clearly not a big deal.

i expected to see mccain looking like yosemite sam (SHUT UP SHUTTIN UP!!) and getting all red faced, or even ferdinand the bull blowing steam through his nostrils.

does it make me a nerd that i compare john mccain to warner bros. cartoon characters?
