Bush Says 2008 Politics No Factor in War
Source: AP

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — President Bush is serving notice that he's still running the Iraq war, and that he won't be influenced by what's happening in the race for his job.

Bush told a friendly audience in Nashville, Tenn., on Tuesday that "the politics of 2008 is not going to enter into my calculations." He said that troop levels in Iraq will be driven instead by "the peace of the year to come."

The president is seeking to frame the war on his terms as the five-year anniversary of the Iraq war approaches next week. He spoke to the convention of the National Religious Broadcasters, and plans other Iraq speeches in coming days.

1. No, the war was a factor in the 2002 election...
Now they just wish that particular briar patch would just go away. So, they could loot the Treasury in peace.

3. How would a new war with Iran play in the election?
If I were one of the bigwigs in the GOP I'd be doing everything I could to talk messianic-boy out of doing anything stupid -- er, more stupid. Perhaps, Democratic elections officials in Democratic majority states should be thinking about locating voting stations next-door to draft induction centers, just in case.

4. You'd think he'd be trying to blame Iraq on the Dems by now.
He actually thinks its a positive to take CREDIT for the Iraq debacle.

6. "Bush told a friendly audience in Nashville, Tenn"
When has he EVER spoken to an unvetted audience free to speak what they think of him? If he had to face real Americans for even one day, that pathetic piece of dung wouldn't ever dare step foot out of the White House.
