Iraq Minister Says Saddam's WMD Carefully Hidden
SOFIA, Bulgaria (Reuters) - Iraqi foreign minister Hoshiyar Zebari said Thursday Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction had been carefully hidden, but he was confident they could be discovered.

"I have every belief that some of these weapons could be found as we move forward," Zebari, an Iraqi Kurd, told a news conference in Sofia. "They have been hidden in certain areas. The system of hiding was very sophisticated."

8. They had people like David Niven and Myrna Loy hiding them
as in the old movies from the l930's, l940's. The WMD searchers will have to rely on their wits, or wittiness to imagine where they might be, and it just might be quite clever, or even "madcap!"

28. Did you read her autobiography?
It was excellent. What a person she was. She said, as I remember, she and Powell would have married -- but they always missed each other. If I could live in anytime -- Hollywood in the 30's would be it. To hand with those guys would be great.

p.s. I too have all the Thin Man movies. They are great.

6. where they are
they're being kept in a blimp disguised to look like a cloud, floating 10,000 feet over Tikrit.

or maybe they're underground? i honestly don't believe for a moment that they're there at all, but maybe the army should bring some seismic, sonic equipment and go over the country with miniscule precision.

oh, wait, they've probably already done that twice.

only WMD's i know of are stored all over the place in the U.S. and Bush wants to make more. evil hypocrit.

9. If he knows this, why doesn't he know where they are? Remember that memo?
These Iraqi officials (all "anointed" by the Bush administration) will say anything to keep they position, and likely, their lives.

Remember a few weeks back, when "members of the governing council" brought forth that memo? The one which conveniently admitted that Iraq supervised, paid for, trained, and approved the targets of Mohammed Atta, and also, along with Syria and Lebanon, AND Al Qaeda, received an "unspecified" shipment from Niger.

That's an awful lot of Bush dreams-come-true for one little two-paragraph memo, not to mention none of it is backed up by any other evidence anywhere, FBI records show Mohammed Atta to have been in the U.S. at the time, and there is a thriving market for just this type of forged document in Iraq right now (they wouldn't say where the memo came from).

Yeah. Real credible source.

This Iraqi Foreign Minister is appointed by Bush, dependent on Bush, and paid for by Bush. This so-called "foreign minister" is un-elected and simply parrots whatever Bush wants him to say. I ain't buying it.

MoveOn Ad Idea:

clips:

Powell shaking powder in UN/Bush Yellow Cake/ Kay says No WMD
Cheney lying onWMD /Powell shaking powder/ Kay Says No WMD
Condolevil Rice lying on WMD/Powell shaking powder/ Kay say No WMD
Bush says No Nation Building/ Bush says Must Build Nation
Wolfowitz Lying on occupation costs/ Bush requesting 87 Billion

etc....

something like that....Gosh I wish I knew more about editing...There are so many obvious lies to splice and interpose. We don't have to say anything, the facts and their actions speak for themselves.

they can attack our troops. of course they have bushco's special batch of weapons hidden, right where they can discover them at jut the proper moment to provide a distraction to Kerry or whoever at the moment of greatest momentum

you see, rove needs the WMD discussion to remain in the news so he can vindicate bush at the last second. but what he doesn't realize is that the vast majority of voters just don't care anymore about WMDs. he's let it go too long. they should have dug up those planted WMDs long ago.

21. This is a real sign that Bush is in trouble.
Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel. We don't believe our own people when they tell us there are no WND's but we believe this scum? I say, bring it on, this administration is going into panic mode alot faster than I thought it would.

PS. Now I know this is a biased Mom speaking but I wonder if the thugs have taken note of the new DK Press Secretary and the very first book he wrote on the subject. I wonder if they are afraid that there will be more press attention to this? Or maybe it is the flap that the Hutton report has caused in GB. Whatever it is, the American people are not going to believe some Iraqi lowlife in US control.

25. Ah, Zebari
1. Who is speaking?

http://www.globalsecurity.org/wmd/library/news/iraq/2003/09/iraq-030909-rferl-165049.htm

In his speech, Zebari -- an Iraqi Kurd who for several years represented the Kurdistan Democratic Party in London and Washington -- sought to lay out the future of Iraq's foreign policy.

---snip---

Needless to say, an iraqi exile who now acts as the anointed mouthpiece for the so-called US "Coalition Provisional Authority" (It ain't a coalition, it ain't provisional, and it has no authority), and who spent the majority of his time pre-April 2003 in...uhhh...London would have Exteeeeeensive knowledge of the means by which the previous government "concealed" it's putative WMD?

Oh, he also spent quite a bit of time in DC, chatting up the State Department, no doubt on this same subject....in 1999!

http://www.globalpolicy.org/security/issues/irqusop.htm

may 25, 1999 :

In announcing the activities Monday, Rubin, said that the administration was embarking on a new policy. “This kind of broad-based political regime change, overt policy, is a new policy,” he said. He described the membership of the opposition that the administration is backing as being a “variety” that stretched beyond the interests of Chalabi. Among those groups at the State Department Monday were the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, led by Latif Rashid, and the Kurdistan Democratic Party, led by Hoshyar Zebari. State Department officials said they were pleased a centrist Sunni leader in exile, Riyad al Yawir, was present Monday.

---snip---

You can also catch this two-bit flack mucking it up with Iraq WMD expert...Judith Miller! Oh, the credibility:

http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/middle_east/july-dec02/after_saddam_12-16.html

He's also known to keep charming company! Talk about your unknown unknowns....

http://www.onlinejournal.com/Special_Reports/Chin103102/chin103102.html

In August, officials from six different Iraqi opposition groups met in Washington at the request of a "joint invitation" from the Defense Department and the State Department. Attending this summit meeting:

Donald Rumsfeld
Marc Grossman, undersecretary of state for political affairs
Doug Feith, undersecretary of defense
Dick Cheney (via video conference, from Wyoming)
Colin Powell
Richard Myers, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs
Ahmed Chalabi (Iraqi National Congress)
Jalal Talabani (Patriotic Union of Kurdistan)
Major General Tawfiq al-Yassiri (Iraqi National Coalition)
Hoshyar Zebari, aide to Massoud Barzani (Kurdish Democratic Party)
Ayadh Allawi (Iraqi National Accord)
Shaif Ali Bin Hussein Constitutional Monarchy Party
Abdelaziz Al-Hakim brother of SCIRI leader Muhammad Bakr al-Hakim
Major General Saad Obeidi, former head of Iraqi psychological warfare
Prince Hassan of Jordan, the uncle of King Abdullah of Jordan

---snip----

I guess we could go on, but why bother?

29. Excellent point
It is not so much what Zebari's pronouncemnt says - it says nothing at all, or says only the same lies which are by now transparently false. No, it is rather what Zebari's statement does, on this day, at this time, for X purpose. So, yes, reminding us all that the Turkish head honcho is visiting with Bush, Inc. today certainly sheds some light on the motives of Zebari's pronouncement. You can almost see the Agency flack: "So, come out with a bit more on WMD, and we'll hardball the Turkman in discussions."

Stupid little games, with millions of lives in the balance. These people, let us not forget, consider themselves moral in the extreme...:eyes:

38. The nice thing about Iraq is it's a big, mostly flat place
about the size of Texas that we have been surveiling heavily for at least 12 years.

You couldn't take a shit in Iraq without us being able to see it, no less build a facility anywhere in the desert without the US noticing.

They are full of shit that they will ever find anything significant in Iraq in regards to WMD's, that we didn't already know about.

The only true WMD are nukes. It's very difficult to wreak mass devastation (and would be only human life, not "destruction" of infrastructure, etc., with mustard gas, sarin, anthrax, and such.
