Tests Confirm Decomposing Body Was In Casey Anthony's Car
Source: The Criminal Report Daily

The University of Tennessee has provided investigators with lab test results of air samples that were taken from Casey Anthony's car, which allegedly show that a decomposing human body had been inside the trunk.

Prosecutors have now offered Anthony partial immunity, in exchange for her admission that Caylee Anthony died as a result of an accident. The deal is set to expire in 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Leonard Padilla and his nephew, Tony Padilla, are now telling reporters that they regret getting involved in the case.

"Maybe we got duped a little bit. Maybe we overestimated her," Tony Padilla told ABC News.

1. Local Orlando news said the deal would expire next week
Whatever the case, I don't understand why the prosecutor is even offering Casey Anthony a deal unless their evidence isn't that strong; they did use the word "preliminary" to describe it here. Can anyone explain?

2. money
admission of guilt could save this community millions of dollar. This trial could become a media circus the city just can't afford.

6. Ah
I'm usually so quick to suspect money is at the root of seemingly irrational things. Didn't see it here, but I suspect you're right.

But it's very difficult to look at little Caylee's pictures and know the monstrous lies her mother has told, and say that any deal would be justice.

7. Also,
there is a body of a little girl out there decomposing- they are also likely trying to find her to lay her to rest properly.

8. that is exactly what it is
I posted this article after first seeing on the news and part of the deal is if she indicates where the body is.

9. I wish them luck with that
Sincerely I do, because it's the best that can be hoped for now. But it doesn't strike me so far that Casey cares a whit about cooperating on her child's behalf.

5. I don't think so
Edited on Thu Aug-28-08 12:22 AM by JonLP24
I don't know for an absolute fact.

But I was watching Geraldo interviewing the bail bondsmen posted outside her house watching the outside to make sure she didn't violate her house arrest and to protect her from individuals making threats to harm her. The bail bondsmen bailed her out on there own. I saw on the news that she might lose her bond which would suck.

on edit: i don't know who that guy is, he may be one of the bail bondsman

10. Yes, it was Padilla
He apologized for it on local news this morning. He's feeling pretty foolish. He says they're going to wait a few days to see what shakes out before deciding whether to revoke the bond.

12. He's said that if he had seen the evidence before, he would have never bailed her out
I was listening to him on one of our local radio talk shows here in Orlando. He's feeling very embarrassed over this whole situation. Yesterday, he had a chance to read 400 pages of evidence for this case. Based on that alone, he said that he never would have even come out here. That was before the air quality tests came back from the lab. Now it's even worse, there's a new report saying that DNA taken from the trunk of the car was from the little girl.

I believe the limited immunity deal is to get her to admit that it was an accidental death, and to take them to the body. The most she would be charged with would be illegal burying and filing a false police report. However, from what Padilla was saying this morning, she's refusing to do even that, and that she has shown absolutely no remorse or emotion since being bailed out.

13. Waterboard Casey Anthony
All reports indicate it works and very quickly too. The only negative consequence is Nancy Grace will be out of work.
