Jury Selection Starts In Sen. Stevens's Trial
Source: WSJ

WASHINGTON -- The public corruption trial of Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens begins in Washington this week, with the senior Republican facing charges that he accepted and concealed more than $250,000 in gifts from an Anchorage-based oil services company that benefited from his work as a senator.

Federal prosecutors allege that, in a nearly eight-year scheme, the 84-year-old Sen. Stevens received several gifts and favors from VECO Corp., including major home renovations, sweetheart car deals, furniture, tools and a gas grill.

Prosecutors have said that Sen. Stevens used his office to help VECO, though they stopped short of directly alleging that the senator traded political favors for gifts. Instead, the government's case centers on charges that Sen. Stevens didn't report the alleged gifts on his Senate financial disclosure forms.

Sen. Ted Stevens, right, followed by his attorney Brendan Sullivan, arrived at federal court in Washington Monday on the first day of his trial.

he sold his country out for a gas grill. I hope they put him in prison for the rest of his ugly life.

4. What associations does Palin have to Sen. Stevens??
Impossible to believe that the Gov and Senator/Reps who travel within the same political circle, & who both have connections to Oil & Gas devilopments in their State, haven't crossed paths.

We need to find a Palin/Stevens alliance.
Someone in this State knows of such cronyism.

8. Make this connection loud & clear as Ted's feet are in the fire starting this week.
Connect Palin to Stevens & GOP big oil corruption.
Constantly.
Cast doubt on those who have been fooled by the Palin hype.

9. Not looking too happy there, Teddy boy
Now, when the Republicans repealed the presumption of innocence a few years ago to justify locking up anyone George W. Bush deemed lock uppable, did that apply to Republicans, too? That is, do we have to go through this whole "trial" formality, or can we just incarcerate Ted for two years or life, whichever comes last?
