US author of anti-Obama book detained in Kenya

The Associated Press
Tuesday, October 7, 2008
NAIROBI, Kenya: The American author of a book critical of Barack Obama is being detained in Kenya while his immigration status is checked, a senior immigration official said Tuesday.

Jerome Corsi, who wrote "The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality," was being held at immigration headquarters in Nairobi after police picked him up from his hotel Tuesday, said Carlos Maluta, a senior immigration official in charge of investigations.

"We still haven't decided what to do with him," Maluta told The Associated Press. He said Corsi did not have a "special pass" to work in Kenya and officials were checking his immigration status.

Obama is wildly popular in Kenya. His father, whom he barely knew, was a Kenyan economist.

Corsi's book claims the Illinois senator is a dangerous, radical candidate for president and includes innuendoes and false rumors — that he was raised a Muslim, attended a radical, black church and is secretly seething with "black rage."

1. More, if you can stomach it: Anti-Obama book to be launched in Nairobi today
Anti-Obama book to be launched in Nairobi today

Updated 11 hr(s) 20 min(s) ago
By Alex Ndegwa

The author of a smear crusade against Barack Obama is in Kenya to advance a negative campaign against the US Democratic presidential candidate on his ancestral soil.

Dr Jerome Corsi, who authored "The Obama Nation; Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality," launches the book this morning at the Laico Hotel, Nairobi.

The book questions the Illinois senator’s character, his links to Prime Minister Raila Odinga and attacks Obama’s fitness for the White House.

The development raises eyebrows coming a day after Obama accused his republican opponent John McCain of resorting to smear campaigns and trying to "tear down" his campaign by linking him to terrorists.

A statement inviting the Press to the launch today makes no secret of the intention to hurl dirt at Obama and undermine his campaign from his ancestral home.

"Dr Corsi will also expose details of deep secret ties between US Democratic presidential candidate Sen Barack Obama and a section of Kenya Government leaders, their connection to certain sectoral groups in Kenya and subsequent plot to be executed in Kenya should Sen Obama win the American presidency," the statement reads in part.

Obama’s brother

It adds: "During his stay, Corsi also plans to meet Sen Obama’s brother, George Hussein Onyango Obama, who lives on a $12 a year in the sprawling Huruma slums and hand him a $1,000 (Sh70,000) cheque from WND founder and CEO Joseph Farah."

Kenyan immigration authorities are holding American author Jerome Corsi, scuttling plans to launch his 'The Obama Nation' book critical of US Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Witnesses say the author was seized by immigration agents and sources have told the Daily Nation is is being held at Nyayo House, Nairobi, the headquarters of the Ministry of Immigration.

Dr Jerome Corsi, the author of The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality was set to launch the book at the Laico Hotel, Nairobi.

The book questions Obama’s character and his fitness to run for the White House. It also explores links between the Illinois Senator and Kenya Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

7. "Christian missionaries" behind this?! WTF?
"According to a press release announcing Corsi's visit, he arrived last week at the invitation of Christian missionaries concerned about the rise of Islam. Corsi was planning to file daily dispatches all week, the statement said"

The plot thickens. Everything about this stinks to high heaven, What kind of missionaries are we talking about here...the Church of Rove?

12. maybe he's tied to "World Vision" missionary work
Researcher John Judge writes that "World Vision appears to be an elaborate cover for the recruitment, training and placement of assassins worldwide."

Mark David Chapman and John Hinckley, Jr. were both members of that church.

Corsi ought to fit right into this shadowy church himself.

search hints to find more information on the subject.

I've not tried them yet, as I had planned to look for more on it myself when time permits.

I've heard and read more than enough material on "religious" groups being used as fronts for government covert ops to fully believe it happens, and has happened for years and years. This subject has been discussed here repeatedly.

31. Yes, but my question was about the "World Vision" allegation in particular.
I am well aware that "religious" organizations have been fronts for political activities for generations. Again, I don't see any grounds for dragging World Vision into this latest event, do you? They have a strong record of humanitarian work. I googled, too, and am not sure what to make of this so-called "researcher" John Judge.

77. Christian right-wing subterfuge
Edited on Tue Oct-07-08 06:41 PM by ngant17
I didn't expressly allege that Corsi was associated with World Vision but I did note a pattern that is similar to this type of quasi-religious organization which has a fascist or extreme-right political agenda behind itself.

World Vision has done good works, similar to the New Tribes mission where they have a hugh office in Sanford, Florida, near where I live. I suspect their method of operation may be more in line with New Tribes:

Describing New Tribes Mission (NTM) as a "true imperialist infiltration that makes me ashamed," Chavez declared he was fed up with "colonialism" and accused the mission group of links to the CIA, spying on Venezuela, and exploiting indigenous people. "We don't want New Tribes here," he said...Vice President Jose Vicente Rangel repeated the accusations on Thursday. "We have intelligence reports that some of them are CIA," he told reporters. "The president's decision was based on reports that their actions create situations that compromise the country's sovereignty..."
Note: New Tribes was expelled from Venezuela in 2005.

World Vison, New Tribes, sure they have done good works, but the same thing could also be stated about Nazi Germany, who did good things for good Germans (as long as you weren't a Jew).

BTW the popular televangelist Arnold Murray, who broadcasts the "Shepard's Chapel" program on Christian TV networks, has been linked to the Christian Identity movement (popular with KKK and neo-Nazis), according to the SPLC Summer 2008 newsletter. "Millions of people around the world listen to Arnold Murray's sermons every year," said Intelligence Report editor Mark Potok. "What the vast majority don't realize is that his is a radical-right ideology that is extremely similar to Christian Identity, a belief system that identifies Jews as the biological children of Satan."

As for Jerome Corsi, he has been a reporter for the fringe right-wing WorldNetDaily. I don't think Corsi is directly involved with intelligence/black ops, he may be a "useful idiot" for the CIA.

BTW John Judge is well-known in JFK assassination research community, i.e., COPA, ratical.org. I think his website is:

74. True, but this law is also used
to bar unwanted journalists and writers from entering the country. About two years ago there was a story about a lady journalist from The Guardian (IIRC), who was denied entry into the US for the very same reason. Naturally, her writing was not friendly to Bush. She spent a night or two in a bare cell and was interrogated harshly, then turned away. It would take me some time to dig up that article, but I will if I can think of the right keywords to find it.

Please watch what you cheer.

in human rights and free speech, then yes, you should demand that Corsi be freed. All this cheering here is deeply disturbing - this is mob justice, people. What was that famous quote from Voltaire? "I may not agree with a word you say, but I shall defend unto my death your right to say it."

Corsi may be a RW moran, but that doesn't mean it's OK to stifle his speech.

Also, of course, this thing only serves to give his "cause" more limelight.

81. then he needed to make sure all of his papers were in order
before setting foot in that country. If he didn't possess the requisite work passes to peddle his book in that country, then that country has every right to hold him accountable according to that country's laws. The same would apply if it was happening in this country.

His own hubris and overblown sense of pride is what has got him where he is. He meant to go into Obama's father's country and try to turn those people against someone whom they hold quite near and dear. His little plan failed and now he's in hot water. Good for him. That'll teach him to traffic in dirt.

The tribe is offended, seizes the party, and one-by-one, kills all but one of the safari members in various creative and horrifying ways. The last surviving member is given "The Lion's Chance" by the tribal leader to be hunted down by a party of tribal warriors. Naked and weaponless he is set loose, the hunters hot on his heels, beginning a life-or-death hunt through wild Africa.

in violation of their immigration laws. It's likely that in Kenya, just like most other countries, foreigners must submit forms detailing their activities if they wish to "work" there. Given his activities, it's no stretch to imagine him lying to the authorities about his reasons for being there, which would provide ample reason for deportation.

I think my assumptions are more realistic than yours.

53. Ha, you know very little.....
My buddy who I went to Kenya with just came by my desk. He last name is Mugaa, but I affectionately call him Mugabe which cracks him up to no end. He just read the article and said, "this guy is in trouble, in Kenya they can make up anything." And that is his own country! Last time I was there he warned me about drinking some sort of liquor made with fuel. He wasn't worried about the fuel, but about the tendency to sink a rat in the mixture and not tell people. I'll have to ask him what that was called again.

56. Does any nonAmerican have the right to do research in the U.S.?
If the U.S. has the "right to control its borders" then so does Kenya.

If they don't want him working there, they are no worse than the U.S. not wanting foreigners to work here!

:wtf:

I suggest the Kenyans deport him to Somalia, where he can see what real danger is.

58. What is that scumbag doing in Kenya? Maybe he can research Palin's witch-hunter friend?
the guy that nearly got the fortune teller killed in a town there.

Corsi's payback for the crap he does is that his chin has chosen to live elsewhere... like in his socks. Why are those pigs always so white and so ugly?

Edited on Tue Oct-07-08 12:50 PM by onager
The missionaries are probably Celeste and Loren Davis, two nutball American Christophiles in Kenya.

They are currently enjoying 15 minutes of right-wing fame because they cranked out an e-mail glurge about Obama.

Among many other things, it claims that Obama's REAL name is: Barak Hussein MUHAMMED Obama.

Loren Davis once wrote an article explaining why the five-pointed stars in the US flag are satanic.

Sun, Safaris and Sex Tourism in Kenya
'They Come Here They Think "I Can Be Whatever I Want to Be" and That's How They Behave'
By DANA HUGHES
NAIROBI, Kenya, October 7, 2008

<snip>
"But these aren't your typical young party-goers having fun -- a vast majority of the couples on this Saturday night, actually every Saturday night, are made up of old white men, mostly tourists and businessmen, and hot, young Kenyan women."

<snip>
"Sex for payment is so common in Nairobi, on the coast of Kenya, particularly in the vacation towns of Mombasa and Malindi, that the thirst for prostitution has led to the widespread exploitation of children. Kenya is now considered one of the worldwide hubs for child sex tourism."

Have to just wonder, given his history, just what "research" was he doing?

tell ya what, if bush, palin, and their band of criminals agree to all the subpoenas, and testify UNDER OATH, then we'll grant this dude a "visit" AFTER them...after all, WE'VE All been waiting how long exactly again?
