Palin's husband testifies he never pressured official

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (CNN) -- The investigation into Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's dismissal of a state official moved forward on two fronts Wednesday.
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has denied any wrongdoing in the firing of her public safety commissioner.

Palin's husband, Todd, said in a sworn affidavit released Wednesday night that he never pressured the state's public safety commissioner to fire Palin's former brother-in-law, a state trooper who had divorced the governor's wife.

And Alaska's Supreme Court heard arguments Wednesday on an appeal by Gov. Palin's allies to block the Legislature's probe but did not immediately hand down a decision.

Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan was not fired this summer because he wouldn't dismiss the trooper, Todd Palin said in his written response to questions from the state Legislature's investigation into Monegan's firing.

3. Isn't there actual recorded evidence to the contrary?
I could have sworn that I read that. If so, then the First Dude could be the First Cellmate very soon.

4. Sure he might not have pressured Monegan to fire the trooper
but I think the real story has to do with the trooper's workers comp claim. Todd supposedly took pictures of the trooper on a snowmobile and gave them to someone (might have been Monegan-I cannot remember off the top of my head) as "proof" that the trooper was not really injured.

The worker's comp claim is the real "meat" to this story-I think

6. No. . .I do not think the "firing" has anything to do with the real story
I think the real story has to do with Sarah Palin trying to use her power as governor to deny the trooper's workers comp claim to get back at him and his actions. Todd Palin is involved (I think) because he allegedly took pics of the trooper on his snowmobile (which is a bit stalkerish) to try and show the trooper was not really injured. I do not think that T. Palin pressured Monegan to fire the trooper but did put pressure on him to try and get his claim denied (giving him the pics).

I am not sure why the real reason Monegan got fired because the stories that have been given by Palin and McCain/Palin camp have not panned out. Maybe he got fired because he did nothing to try and stop the claim.

(This is just my personal conspiracy theory)

10. I agree with your theory. But I wonder why Sarah Palin
took it upon herself to go so far to try and block someones' Workers Comp Claim?
Unless she really did use her power for personal gain.

Cause the last I knew she didn't have a medical degree to be
able to determine if someone had suffered injuries or not. I would
think, just MHO, the Workers Comp people sent him to physicians of there own,
they usually put people thru quite abit because of all the fraudulent claims they get
and their uneaggerness to pay out claims.

And wonder why she (Palin) decided to make it her person business to send
Todd out to take photos of her ex-brother inlaw without her exs permission?

Sounds all kind of fishy, like she had a personal ax to grind to me.

Palin Makes Me Want To.. :puke:

:)

7. sworn affidavit? prepared by Dc lawyers from the campaign,
couching every issue in terms so opaque that when you get through splitting hairs, there's no there there.

and NO cross-examination, the key to our adversarial system of law.

8. Troopergate
Don't despair, justice grinds on slowly. There's still a chance that we will have pictures of him being perp-walked out of a court to jail. She will have plenty of time to visit after she is impeached or plain embarrassed out of the governors office. Even if the odds are 20 to 1 against, it is fun to dream about any of these criminals getting what hey deserve.

9. I hope that about 4 weeks from now we're asking ourselves "who's Todd Palin?
and why should we care about Troopergate? It's not like he's in the White House."
