Lieberman campaigns in Ohio for McCain
Source: Boston.com

COLUMBUS, Ohio—Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman is canvassing Ohio, telling voters to cast their ballots for Republican presidential candidate John McCain.

Lieberman met with supporters Sunday at a Cup O'Joe coffee shop in Bexley, a Columbus suburb. He told Ohioans not to base their votes simply on party affiliation.

"Vote for who you think really can put our country together and is tested in crisis, and is the president we need to get us out of this economic hole," he said.

Lieberman said Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is not ready to be president.

1. Joe is about to take a hike
We are going to have a hard time landing 60 seats in the senate. We have 49 now + Sanders and Lieberman. We can assume Sanders will caucus with us, so we need 10 seats to be safe from a Joe betrayal. At http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/search/label/senate%20polls they have the Dems favored to pick up 7 seats right now, though Oregon, Alaska, and NC are close. They have Coleman slightly over Franken (electoral-vote.com is slightly Franken at this point, http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2008/Senate/Maps/Oct12-s.html), although that gap has closed. Musgrove also has a decent shot in Mississippi, but there is still work to be done there.

Poetic justice would be wins in all of the above...plus somehow knocking off Chambliss in GA. I would love nothing more than to see him go down in flames after his reprehensible campaign against Cleland. If we got Musgrove in and got rid of Chambliss...we could have 60 senators without Joe...at which point we tell him what to go do with himself. If we only get 59, even with Joe, we tell him what to go do with himself again. He cant hold us hostage if we have a clear majority.

19. I agree
if we get to 59 WITHOUT him...that is the only way he causes us any trouble. Any other total and Lieberman will become a non-entity within the party...and he can kiss any present and future chairmanships good bye.

20. Lieberman is screwed either way...
The Democrats most certainly have ceased to trust him, and the Republicans...well, we all saw what happened with the Veep selection.

He has become the "Tail Gunner Joe" of the 21st century. I'm sure Ned Lamont, if he decides to run again, will have little difficulty sending Lieberman to retirement.

28. You almost have to feel sorry for him
After having had his nose so far up so many repuke asses, he's obviously acquired a taste for repuke shit and how is he going to satisfy his appetite for it once they're out of office?

11. You're finished LIEberman!
I remember how Lyndon Johnson treated Wayne Morse when he went Independent. Couldn't sit on committees and had no desk on the floor because the Republicans didn't want him and he wouldn't initially go with the Democrats.

That is what's waiting for LIEberman in the new Senate. Nobody wants him! Good for that 21st century incarnation of Judah Benjamin!

exactly what Liebermann ws also about - he spent years with him in the Congress.

24. In a past life, was he rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic?
I mean, gee, most of the party is running far, far away from the McCain campaign. Charlie Crist went to DISNEY WORLD instead of a McCain event in Florida. Guess he knows the Dems are going to kick him to the curb depending on the results of the election, and he's hoping to ingratiate himself with the thugs.

Asshole.

27. I live nearby and can tell you that we had a hard time fitting 20 Kerry supporters into
Cup O'Joes. You want to hear a weird connection? Remember that creep that was an admitted cross-over voter to Hillary in the primary that wore the "Osama for Obama" tee to the Hillary Victory Party? He is the former owner of Cup O'Joe. His name is wrong here it's Todd Appelbaum:

Controversial Clinton Guest: 'Osama for Obama'

March 04, 2008 10:42 PM

ABC News' Kate Snow and Eloise Harper report: A controversial party guest was spotted at Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's election night party in Columbus, Ohio Tuesday.

He was hard to miss.  He was the one wearing the "Osama for Obama" t-shirt.

Columbus resident Todd Elbaum told ABC News his friend makes the t-shirts.

Elbaum did not hold back on his views of Obama when he was interviewed by ABC within full view of a Clinton staffer.

"The truth is he was born a Muslim, his father was a Muslim, his mother married a Muslim after divorcing his father.  His grandfather was a Muslim.  It doesn't matter.  But what does matter is when Obama said he was never a Muslim.  He was a Muslim.  He was born a Muslim.  He was a Muslim for six years of his life," Elbaum said.

Watch the VIDEO HERE.

This event was sceduled at the same time that about 200 local residents were at a Dennis Ross event. I believe it was probably meant to interfere with Ross but ~ 200 people attended that event.

30. To truly understand this creep, he also has ties to Rod Parsley & Blackwell:
-snip

Todd Appelbaum, a 44-year-old native Clevelander who has lived in Columbus for the past 25 years, attended the event along with a number of Republican government officials, including Blackwell. Former chairman of Columbus's chapter of American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), Appelbaum is now active in a Jewish-Christian coalition that works to support Israel and other issues.

Evangelicals are loving patriots

Appelbaum, who brought three Orthodox rabbis to the pastors' gathering, attended in order to meet Parsley and to develop deeper relationships between the Jewish community and conservative evangelicals.

"Our freedoms are threatened, our Judeo-Christian beliefs are threatened by radical Islam," Appelbaum says. "If western civilization is going to be saved from these evil forces, who don't share our values, it has to be done through Christianity. There are only 14 million Jews throughout the world. There are two billion Christians. They are the only ones who can stand up to radical Islam."
