12. Shhhhhh don't tell anyone, the article didn't mention it.
I imagine the local readers already know what party their governor is from, but I guess chalk one up for the repukes who scream "media bias" whenever a repuke in trouble is identified with his party.

I was actually looking for Strckland's party ID, although that doesn't really matter since he's not the one in trouble.

Source: MSNBC.com

Columbus police arrested a man they say was responsible for a Web site where customers could post reviews of prostitutes.

Robert Eric McFadden is accused of trading information about online escorts and prostitutes who worked the streets, including a 17-year-old girl. Police say he also helped organize a $10-a-ticket raffle that offered an evening with a prostitute.

The 46-year-old McFadden was arrested Wednesday and faces numerous charges, including compelling prostitution involving a minor.

No attorney for McFadden was listed with the Franklin County Jail.

McFadden formerly served as director of the Faith-Based and Community Initiatives office under Gov. Ted Strickland. He was transferred to a job with the state prisons department in 2007 and laid off in March 2008 due to budget cuts.

Of course, they could use his reviews as self-incriminating evidence....

Or, more appropriately, DU is committing a crime?

32. Well - no
But, if they suspect you were having sex with a teenage prostitute (he was) and you posted a review about said teenage prostitute, and they can prove that you posted the review in reference to said teenage prostitute - they have evidence against you.

But its not illegal.

29. For some reason this strikes me as wrong
This website was the only reason he was arrested?

If I wrote a fictional website (but didn't say it was fictional) about my experiences with different prostitutes and rating them, etc....could I be arrested for compelling prostitution? What if it was about drug use? My life in the mafia?

Don't they need some sort of evidence of actual wrongdoing.

It just feels like there are some first amendment issues here.

30. He'll walk. The prosecutors are overreaching.
This is no different than MyRedBook out here on the west coast. The cops would love to see it shut down, but the site is firmly protected by the first amendment. Since the site doesn't facilitate the transactions but simply provides a place for people to discuss them, nothing prosecutable is happening. It's not illegal to discuss an illegal act, only to perform it.

My guess would be that this is either a test case, or the police are trying to intimidate other site owners.
