Tony Blair: I suffer doubts over Iraq
Source: The Times

The former Prime Minister, now Middle East envoy for the Quartet group of the US, UN, EU and Russia, does not know whether history will vindicate him over the decision to invade. “I don't know. Nobody knows,” he told Ginny Dougary in an interview to be published tomorrow.

He said that he was not haunted by it “but of course I reflect on it, and am troubled by it, and feel a great sense of responsibility for it”.

Mr Blair said that it was not nice to have people distrusting his motives or saying that he had lied “but the most difficult thing in any set of circumstances is the sense of responsibility for people who have given their lives and fallen - the soldiers and the civilians. If I did not feel that, there really would be something wrong with me, and there is not a single day of my life when I do not reflect upon it . . . many times. And that's as it should be.”

In the wideranging interview with The Times Magazine, in which he has given his detailed thoughts on the Middle East peace process, Mr Blair compared President Obama to himself as a leader who is more interested in the practical than the ideological.

6. Well good for you!
You suffer doubts. Others suffer shattered lives. Death. Disease.

But, hey, as long as you have doubts it's all good, right?

9. You never had "doubts", bLiar. You KNEW invading Iraq was ILLEGAL.
You KNEW a lot of people were going to die.

You KNEW a lot of lives were going to be destroyed forever.

You KNEW the vast majority of the world, including your own people, were OPPOSED to your illegal invasion of Iraq.

You KNEW all of this, bLiar.

No, you never had "doubt".

10. If you suffer doubts, then you could redeem yourself by telling the truth
You are privy to many facts Mr. Blair. You want history to depict you as someone like President Obama? Then maybe you can come clean and spill the beans and let them fall where they may.

Until then no one will believe you have real doubts or that you truly regret what happened.

For now you just look like the man who sold his soul but as many who deal with the devil, you didn't quite end up where you wanted to. Maybe that's your regret.

15. He doesn't know?

Maybe he reads the American papers instead of the British papers because the British papers have already condemned him along with Bush.

We will never really know how many innocent Iraqis have been killed in the "war for oil" because everyone will lie. But most estimates are between 1 and 2 million. History will not overlook that.

While separate for over 200 hundred years, the reality is that the United States and the Commonwealth are still one nation. And it is as shameful a nation as it was when it colonized Africa and killed millions of Africans for no reason other than they didn't matter. Because they were "less than" and so they didn't matter. Only the "divine right" mattered. The divine right to claim the natural resources of other nations as its own. And the "noble lie" that Blair along with Bush will keep promoting as the foundation of free society and which justifies the "divine right." It is not a divine right. Merely a right that some chose to claim was a divine right. That isn't even a right at all.
