Federal Union Boss Calls Limbaugh's Comments 'Unacceptable'

Colleen M. Kelley, president of the National Treasury Employees Union that represents more than 150,000 federal employees, joined the fight against Rush Limbaugh this morning, criticizing the radio talk show host for his recent comments on President Obama.

“Rush Limbaugh had the audacity to announce on national radio, 'I hope he fails.' Imagine anyone saying that. If he fails, our country fails. That is unacceptable," she said during opening remarks at the union's annual legislative conference.

NTEU spokeswoman Dina Long stressed that Kelley's comments were hers alone and that the union has many Democratic and Republican members. But Kelley's comments come as the Democratic Party and liberal groups partially funded by labor unions ramp up a "Republicans equal Limbaugh" campaign through radio and television commercials.

Kelley, who has served as NTEU national president since 1999, also expressed an eagerness to work with President Obama following eight years of difficulties with the Bush administration.

These guys seem more and more like a cult every day, we have ditto heads where I work and you can't even talk with them. They have been trained to respond with key phrases for certain keywords, every time they hear a keyword they respond with the phrase that has been embedded in their mind. When you don't say anything they just state the various phrases over and over again much like a doll with a pull string - and I am talking about situations where it doesn't even make sense to say it, it's seems more of a reflex action, constantly all day long.

That America's and Obama's fate are the same. For all intensive purposes Obama IS the United States. The Presidency is the embodiment of all of our hopes, fears, successes and failures.

If Obama fails, all Americans fail. If Obama succeeds we all succeed.


Limbaugh is such a loose cannon. Its a shame there isn't much progress on the Fairness Doctrine. Would be nice to have an anti-Limbaugh on the radio to set things straight.

1) prove them right
2) serve us right for putting a black liberal in charge
3) bring End Days sooner-- and this is something they are actually HOPING to bring about ASAP

I finally got it the other day -- they are NOT ashamed of Rush's comment. They are very confident in saying that yes, they want us to fail, they want to the country to fail. In their minds, at least we would be spared from "communism" (yes, they've brought the RED scare out and dusted it off). They really BELIEVE the shit rush tells them, and then Faux backs it up.

The camps can't be done too soon for me (just kidding- I just got done reading a bunch of freepers going off about the camps Obama built for them-- they're nuts. just nuts.).

of military love Rush. One of the most painful aspects of a year separated from family in Korea was that Rush held a prime radio slot on the AFN Radio channel I listened to..7pm-8pm....thankfully AFN did not broadcast the entire 3 hours of his show, and it was immediately followed by All Things Considered, but still.....captive audience and all it sucked.

soapbox i wonder why they never boycott and picket the stations that put him on- the blowhards have been kicking the crap out of the auto unions lately and in general have always done everything they could to break them up.

same with all the major progressive political orgs- they have no bigger obstacle on a political level than the local and national talkers who spend every day reading chamber of commerce and GOP talking points to huge parts of the country that have no radio alternatives.
