Man kills 4 at gathering in Miami, then kills self
Source: AP

MIAMI, Fla. – A man shot four people to death at a family gathering early Sunday, then went home and killed himself, police said.

The shootings apparently stemmed from some sort of domestic dispute, according to a sergeant with the Miami Police Department's homicide division.

Officers got a call shortly after midnight that numerous shots had been fired and a red pickup truck had been spotted leaving the scene. They arrived and found four bodies.

Soon after, someone called 911 to say a house about three miles away was in flames and more shots had been heard. That's where they found the gunman dead.

The names of the victims and gunman aren't being released because family members haven't been notified.

Police said the gunman may have been upset because his wife had left him, but they're still investigating.

1. Memo to all those thinking of going on a murder suicide action
Please do the second step first ..... make sure you have that part down perfect
before you do anything else.

4. I wonder how many we've had this year?
It does seem like we've had too many and one is too many.

7. Probably the same amount as last year -

Only difference is that there are no major celebrity scandals or missing middle class blondes, there's only politics. So the media focus is on the more outrageous, spectacular failures of general humanity - the "lost my job or losing my family" shooting sprees in the heartland that they think "resonate" with the average american enought to keep attention, but not to get them thinking.

The one-month missing somewhat goth high school girl, the multiple ax murders by reason of insanity or gangland fatal shootings and stabbings, the "marine father returning home from Iraq" who shakes his newborn to death or kills his wife in a PTSD rage - all recently happening here in my area of the left coast - just aren't heartland enough to be splashed over the news.

6. Murders make for better ratings, just ask the MSM
Murder is not rare, just posted more often lately on DU.

According to the US Dept of Justice there are 14,000-16,000 murders per year in the US. Averaged out over 365 days that is approx 40 per day.

Then again, there are just over 40,000 deaths per year due to automobile accidents, 1/3 of those are alcohol related.

8. "The NRA jumped into action out of concern for the firearm used."
Edited on Sun Mar-15-09 10:16 AM by onehandle
"The guns are usually confiscated and never seen again," said NRA EVPCEO Wayne LaPierre. "The jackbooted thugs must allow the weapons to go back into the great pool of firearm commerce. Let the consumer items be bought again. Gun Companies Are People Too and are Protected by the Second Amendment!"

LaPierre then defecated into his diaper.

9. Apparently you missed
the school shooting in Germany. They have some of the tightest gun control anywhere. Guyn controls won't keep a few crazies from going on a rampage.

11. What does that have to do with the NRA being the sales team for the gun industry?
I said nothing about gun control.

13. From what LaPierre said, it is more that...
guns are people too. If it were concern for the companies then taking a few old guns out of circulation allows nifty new guns to come into killing range.

Of course, for Mr. LaPierre's benefit, if the guns is involved in a murder it should be tried by a court and, if convicted, put on an electric chair, gas chamber, or before a firing squad and killed dead, dead, dead.

12. It sells guns everyday.
Meanwhile one of my favorite consumers items, the iPod, is Not specifically covered by the Constitution.

Is that fair to me and my fetish?

15. Tighter gun laws are needed. Bet ya Obama doesn't do anything about it. The NRA has
quieted those who are anti-gun.
