Bennett considering lawsuits against casinos
so...he's now trying to recover the millions he lost? :eyes:

http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_home/2003/Jul-29-Tue-2003/business/21825198.html

Morals czar William Bennett is considering filing lawsuits against Las Vegas casino companies that may have leaked documents detailing his gambling habits.

Bennett, the architect and leading advocate of Nancy Reagan's "Just Say No" anti-drug campaign, was outed in the May issue of The Washington Monthly magazine as a gambler who has wagered -- and lost -- millions over the past decade at Bellagio and Caesars Atlantic City.

During a 60-minute interview with Tim Russert on CNCB this weekend, the former education secretary complained his privacy rights had been "deliberately damaged" while also mocking Las Vegas' latest national marketing campaigns.

So Bennett is trying to blame the casinos for his gambling problem?

because if he sues, he'll never be able to enter a casino again. And don't think he won't need to once he has his lawsuit gains. A compulsive gambler I knew once told me that if he won the lottery he'd be at the track every day.

20. What FUn!!!!!!!!!!!
Imagine what kind of things would come out in THAT lawsuit. The casino's have a lot of money and can hire some big gun lawyers... Think of it... Bennet being on the receiving end of having every rumour and ineundo about him going through the media circus that inevitably surrounds such trials. Rather amusing to think what would be dredged up.

24. The big hypocrit does have a point
it is a tort to release his private information for the purpose of embarrassing him, provided he can prove that the casinos approved it. It's obviously killed his way of making a living, which is pointing out the sick habits of others. For his family's sake, he should have saved a good nest egg, because he is otherwise going to have to work for a living.

28. Personally - I find the spector of a trial - highly amusing
First the ridicule of him going to court given his and his buddies ranting against 'frivolous suits' (one could argue - that if someone is so stupid to loose 8 million dollars gambling over the course of several years - that sooner or later it would come out... thus - like all the cases argued against by the rw anti tort reform case - this should be deemed "frivolous).

Second - and better - is that the casinos have MORE money than him to buy the lawyers that would drag the case out for ever - and would go digging for info that would further discredit Bennet (hard to claim that his leaking of info harmed his "reputation" if he is involved in any other questionable behaviors that would/could have an equally damaging impact on his reputation).

The media circus would be a riot.

Hey - why doesn't the now (we hope) defunct Pentagon Gambling on Terror Parlor change its focus - and open up a betting parlor on the types of dirt that might come out in a Bennet trial. Somehow having folks gamble on bennet seems hilariously fitting.

34. but it's LEGAL ya know (like gambling)
so it really wouldn't go against his "Virtuous" persona.

BTW, didn't he come out in the beginning of the story and claim that it wasn't a big deal (the gambling), that his wife new, he hadn't done anything wrong, it isn't illegal... etc etc. Heck is conservomedia buddies said the same thing. So why the threat of a law suit, Bill?

Wonder what else the security camera's might have caught... oh, the speculation.

abortions, lying, etc. etc. are all usually legal too. I think he would be a fool to sue, but we all know he is a fool, and that if this happened to somebody who wasn't so holier than thou, that this would be a good lawsuit.

although there is a county or two in Nevada where it's okay.

No, Billy Boy would have to pretend that the women with tattoos and leather miniskirts leaving his room at 2:00 a.m. are just "friends", and that's just too dang funny to think about right now.

46. In fact, it's just "a county or two" in Nevada where it ISN'T legal.
Nye county, home of Pahrump, borders Clark County, home of Las Vegas.

Pahrump is just about an hour's drive from the strip. The "massage parlors" there have special excursion busses that ply the route between many times a day.

41. Hypocrisy case 1, 2, and 3
Can someone name the highest person up the cabal heirarchy who is leading the way to limit tort cases in malpractice suits to $250,000.00? If I have that number right, then what do you think he should get for a simple privacy issue? Should he ask Ashcroft? John is an expert on invading privacy. John can use reverse logic to come up with an opinion of value.

Never, ever forget that it was Bennett who was sitting in the living room with the Bushes on the evening and night of December 11/2, 2000 and it was he who went on national TV to tell the public to wait and not announce that Gore had one, because there was breaking news out of Florida.

Never, ever forget that he was on TV about every two weeks exoriating Clinton for moral decay. How many wives (or husbands) and their children could suffer infedility over losing their home or their childrens education savings due to gambling.

This man is a very high-up game and strategy caller in the cabal.

Always remember that if you ever want the name and ultimate case scenario for simple to understand hypocrisy...think Bill, the Preacher-Hypocrite. A very typical right wing representative.

Bring on the lawsuit and let FOX, CNN, and all the NBCs carry it live.

47. As a compulsive gambler, I can appreciate that he would
want to blame someone else for his sorrows. It's part of the illness.

Bennet, get to a gamblers anonymous meeting and quit the self-pity routine. It might even help you in other areas of your life, like your penchant to be sanctimonious about other people's character defects while you lie about yours.
