BREAKING: John Couey dies in prison

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- John Couey, who was convicted and sentenced to death last year for the murder of Jessica Lunsford, died of natural causes in Jacksonville today.

Citrus County spokeswoman Gail Tierney confirmed his death just moments ago.

that there were no obvious bullet holes or that half of his head was not on the floor and not attached to his body.

Ruth Lunsford said state officials told her Couey died from cancer and had a painful end to his life. "I can't feel bad about him having to suffer with cancer," Lunsford said, "He didn't have no mercy on my granddaughter. He made her suffer... God's taken care of him in his own way."

14. i wonder if they gave him painkillers in the end, a lot of jails will not give anything stronger

than advil, if an inmate needs stronger meds they ship him out to the hospital and it needs to be real bad for that...

the headline is a little misleading. He didn't actually die in the prison. He had been in an outside hospital for several weeks where he eventually died. I'm betting he did get painkillers.
