Boehner: GOP offering the right health care ideas
Source: Associated Press

WASHINGTON – Republicans have the answers to lower health costs and expanded coverage, not the Democrats hold power in Washington and are creating more problems as they "recklessly pursue" a government takeover of the health care system, a GOP leader said.

The top House Republican, Rep. John Boehner of Ohio, outlined his party's alternative in the GOP's weekly radio and Internet address Saturday. Democratic proposals are gaining momentum in Congress and Republicans are scrambling for support to try to block them.

Taking aim at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's plan, Boehner said it would put Washington in charge of health care decisions, add to the bureaucracy, raise premiums and cut Medicare benefits."Enough is enough. Breaking the bank and taking away the freedoms Americans cherish is not the answer to the challenges we face," Boehner said.

Boehner said there is a choice to be made: "We can come together to implement smart, fiscally responsible reforms to improve Americans' health care or we can recklessly pursue this government takeover that creates far more problems than it solves."Boehner said a number of steps could be taken, such as letting people buy health insurance across state lines, allowing people and organizations to pool together to buy insurance for lower prices and reining in malpractice lawsuits.

2. "Breaking the bank and taking away the freedoms Americans cherish is not the answer"
unless, of course, the GOP is in the majority. Then it's a capital idea, apparently. :eyes:

3. The good old republicon plan in a nut shell.......don't get sick and if you do die
quickly. Oh yeah, and if a doctor accidentally cuts off your leg when you go in for injury to your hand, you can't expect to sue that doctor for damages.

4. What ideas?
Pay tribute to the insurance companies and then crawl off and die quietly when you get sick?

They won't even allow us drugs to numb the pain.

9. Wherever they had tort "reform" (California, Texas) the cost of insurance..................
............HAS GONE UP as everywhere else, so that is bullshit. AND, being able to buy across state lines would instantly disable states oversight of insurance companies. So, they are giving even MORE than the Dems to insurance companies.

11. Here is a link to MalPractice on HealthCare
This study was done in 2003 - 2004 but as you see from the bottom of the page it was reafirmed in 2009. Malpractice does not add to health care cost.

http:makethemaccountable/myth/RisingCostOfMedicalMalpracticeInsurance.htm

This medial malpractice crap is just so they can get out of paying for their mistakes.

16. Republicans = hypocrites.
Here's more proof that every single last breathing Republican is a hypocrite:

John Boehner:
"Enough is enough. Breaking the bank and taking away the freedoms Americans cherish is not the answer to the challenges we face..."

Isn't that ALL they did during the Bush years?

They doubled the deficit and took all of the surplus Clinton left, then lied to start two wars that have cost billions of dollars.

They took away the freedoms Americans cherish with the Patriot Act, spying on Americans, forbidding photographs to be taken of dead soldiers returning home, and screened events to make sure only supporters gained entry.

Why don't you address this conflict in your statement, Boehner?

He won't, of course, because the people it's directed at--Republicans--will take him at his word. They won't fact check for themselves, they won't realize Boehner's a hypocrite because they're uneducated, hateful, racist people.

And that is a fact.

I buy my home insurance (fire, liability, etc) from out of state - not sure I'm saving THAT much money. My biggest savings was acheived by raising my deductable!

Oh, yeah, there were no ideas -- only mindless flagwaving and pronouncements about how we "have the best healthcare in the world."

22. Their use of breaking the bank is a freudian slip.
They are deathly afraid that the cash cow that the healthcare industry has become to incumbent Congressmen will dry up, or at least be severely reduced, if Health care reform passes in the United States. There it is in black and white. The Republican Party is perfectly ok with you, or your loved ones dying from a lack of affordable and accessible health care, as long as their campaign donations from the health care industry keep flowing in. This should be made into an ad and played in all 50 states.... Moveon?
