Clinton to Speak at Senator's Fund-Raiser (Iowa)
DES MOINES, Iowa - Former President Clinton will be the featured speaker at Iowa Sen. Tom Harkin's annual steak fry and fund-raiser, a traditional political gathering in the state with the leadoff caucuses. ..

The crowded Democratic field of nine gave Harkin too many choices for a keynote speaker. The senator, who has not made his preference known in the presidential primary, decided instead to go with the Democrat who won the presidency in 1992 and 1996.

Harkin aide Alison Dobson said organizers expect 5,000 party activists to show up for the event, making it the largest gathering of Democrats before the state's precinct caucuses in January.

4. Same for me! I went running today and had my "Newsweek"
with me that I just got in the mail! I saw the quote from clinton that said.."You know, everybody makes mistakes when they are president."

What a bunch of disingenous crapshit! I thought about that while I was running and was thinking like you just said..."I always defended him" when he was right but he's not right on this! Clinton is wrong, Big Time.

I'm not going to hazard a guess as to what he is up to! I guess time will tell that!

8. Clinton
I think what Clinton meant about "all presidents make mistakes" is himself. He remembers how he was treated and was rubbing it in. He called attention to the mistakes Bush has made. That is my take on it, but others can have their take on it. I really think it was a not-so-subtle slam at GW.

6. Clinton has never attacked Howard Dean
in fact, he has staunchly defended him.

3. Never know when to make that graceful exit...
instead of blocking the door.

5. I guess Tom Harkin doesn't think it's time
for him to make "a graceful exit." Is Tom, who has a strong liberal voting record, a DLCer now, too?

7. He gave a great speech at the Wellstone memorial
I have only respect for the man, and don't get what the disappointment is about. Why should he pick one out of nine at this point in time?

9. The Political Wives Club
Maybe Bill has been hanging out too much with Bob Dole in the political wives club. Bob Dole has always been a softy who was easy to roll, and maybe he's rubbed off on Bill.
