Russian train wreck 'an act of terror'
Source: CNN

Moscow, Russia (CNN) -- Investigators have found "elements of an explosive device" at the site of the derailment of an express train in Russia and believe an act of terror caused the deadly incident.

The derailment killed at least 26 people and injured about 100, but there was no immediate word on who or what group might have been behind the action.

"One can say with certainty that that was indeed an act of terror," Vladimir Markin, spokesman for the investigative committee of the Russian prosecutor's office, told CNN.

He would not elaborate on exactly what kind of "elements of an explosive device" the investigators discovered earlier, but said the crater found beneath the railroad bed was "1.5 meter by 1 meter in size."

If this were the U.S., Republicans would be accusing Putin of being soft on national security. Of course, Putin would then just send them all to jail whereas in the U.S., if President Obama merely criticizes a conservative, they start screaming censorship and facism.

2. I'm glad that 26 people died.
It gives you an excuse to say bad things about repubs *and* Putin, while implying that Obama is at least tolerant of dissent--so they obviously died for a good cause.

Perhaps next week 50 could die in Honduras and a week after that 35 in Germany. Then you'd be on a roll.

Geesh. I suppose I really do have to put a :sarcasm: here because otherwise *somebody* will muster up enough doubt and suspicion to accuse me trying to defend repubs and * and Hitler, if not Pol Pot, Richard I, and Nero.

More could be said. Perhaps Kadyrov's policies aren't the best. One could say that Putin's fowl are returning to their roosts. One could speculate on whether this is a Chechen group, oriented towards some other Muslim-based injustice in Russia. One could raise the issue of whether the group that actually did it will be the one tagged with the crime--whether it is a Muslim group, an operation to pull into line some oligarchs that remained less than loyal to the new vozhd', whether they'll blame Baltic groups or a Georgian group or even, sigh, AQ and the US's Afghan/Iraq policy.

Lots could be said.

3. Evidence of bomb residue and careful planning as opposed to
Our Fort Hood "terrorist" attack clearly carried out by a lone nut case in a state of personal crises.

Hard to imagine the difference :sarcasm:
