Suspected U.S. drone kills 2 in Pakistan

Islamabad, Pakistan (CNN) -- A teacher and his 9-year-old son were killed Sunday night by a suspected U.S. drone, a Pakistani administration official and an intelligence official told CNN.

The incident occurred in the village of Musaki in the North Waziristan district. The suspected U.S. drone fired two guided missiles at the compound of local resident Sadiq Noor, the officials said. There were reports Noor's home was used by local and foreign militants.

There was no immediate U.S. confirmation of the report.

Earlier Sunday, four people were killed and one injured when a remote-controlled roadside bomb struck a vehicle in the Hangu district of North West Frontier Province, officials said.

I always wonder what the drone is suspected of, or if it's suspected that it isn't really a drone, or if someone besides the USA is shooting rockets from drones a ground targets in Pakistan?

All that I, and others, have stated is that the Taliban have executed civilians and placed them at the site of drone strikes in the past, in order to whip up fury over the U.S. supposedly killing civilians. With that in mind, these reports cannot always be taken at face value.

9. I realize you find this fact politically inconvenient and would prefer to be able to condemn

all strikes out of hand, without awaiting thorough investigations, but doing so is rather sloppy, for exactly the reason I mentioned. You can condemn it as "idiocy" all you like, it doesn't change the fact that this has happened, so while you sit on the edge of your seat, eager to condemn coalition forces the minute one of these stories appears, it remains wiser to wait and see.
