Powell backs Obama on national security record
Source: AP

WASHINGTON – Former Secretary of State Colin Powell is rejecting charges that the country is less safe because of the way President Barack Obama has handled national security matters.

The former army general and secretary of state under President George W. Bush says the U.S. "is still at risk" of attack. But he says the country isn't less safe because of Obama's handling of security, as former Vice President Dick Cheney has claimed.

Powell is a Republican who supported Democrat Obama for president in 2008.

Powell says he thinks Obama may have put "too much on the plate" as he tackles domestic issues during a period of deep economic uncertainty.

2. The only way I will EVER respect Powell again
is if testifies before The hauge in a war crimes tribunal against cheney, bush, rumsfeld, rice, until then- he can rot.

And this? He can fuck off on this- speaking the truth....wow.

He SHOULD be speaking the truth.

5. The day he comes out and admits to lying to the world...
This is actually not likely to happen but would not surprise me.

7. maybe a little encouragment from Scott Mcellan (sp!!) would help
And you know. US. I think what someone posted earlier is the wrong way about it. Isn't that the same idea behind torture. Treat a detainee like crap might get one to change their mind vs treating them great. No I disagree. I would encourage Powell to do what he must. I'm glad to see he's come this far.

6. All of youz sound hysterical. Powell is the only honorable thing we can grasp
from that era. And he says Obama is better. Done. It says something.

8. Honorable? Presenting False Evidence to The UN in order to go to War is Honorable?
Idiocracy indeed.

Unless you're being sarcastic.

Then it's rather humorous.

10. Powell was complicit in the kidnapping of President Aristide
which paved the way for the train wreck that is Haiti today. He hasn't had a shred of honor since the day he started trying to bury the My Lai massacre.
