Aznar supporters call Spanish election a 'robbery'
The Guardian
Wednesday March 17, 2004

Several thousand supporters of the outgoing prime minister, José María Aznar today rallied in Madrid to protest against the Spanish general election.

The demonstrators accused the socialist prime minister-elect, José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, of exploiting last week's train bombs to win power.

"The elections were a robbery," said school student Maria Garcia, wearing stickers of Mr Aznar's Popular Party (PP) on her jacket.

"The Socialist party has exploited the subject of terrorism so that the PP would lose, after saying throughout the campaign that we shouldn't use terrorism for political purposes."

29. Aznar is into the same rotten politics that junior plays
Now that Aznar has been exposed by the people of Spain for trying to blame the bombings on ETA the dirty little prick is crying in his beer.

Let him cry and whine until he understands that he has been screwed by junior and not the People of Spain.

2. If Aznar wanted to win the votes
he should not have done so much lying and manipulation, and especially not when it is the dead and their families are the ones that are being heartlessly manipulated.

Now he is manipulating again by putting his own sins on the other party.

8. 99% of Spain didn't want to invade Iraq.
So Maria Garcia is in the 1%, maybe someone can explain to her the ROBBERY that went on here in the US on Dec 12, 2000. People voted this asshole out because he supported Chimpy's War...are you listening Poodle Boy? You're next!

Next comes: "They are all thugs".

Then: "Democracy isn't necessarily that the most votes wins, sometimes other things are more important".

Why don't we all save ourselves just a lot of time and go back to the Haiti or Venezuala threads, change the subject to "Spain" and be done with it.

All the spin-meisters will be out to proove "they're not against democracy, but..."

But in a vicarious way, it'll be fun to see all the suspects spouting the same repuke talking points again.

19. Zapatero
had better not hire any US-based bodyguards.
Just look what the Steele Foundation did to Aristide.

Also,
Zapatero should avoid small planes and grassy knolls.

25. We need more such robberies
Aznar reduced the anti-terror vigilance of Spain and put all his eggs in the ETA basket. He had been using ETA as his own boogeyman to scare the rest of Spain into voting for him. The rest of the antiterrorist efforts had been reduced. Aznar had his country "stand down" with respect to non-ETA terrorism. And the Spanish people know it.

The news is out -- the terrorists were able to walk right in to Alcala station, place the backpack bombs, and walk away unmolested, in large part because of the stupidity of Aznar's policies.

It was very similar to Bush's lackadaisical attitude toward terrorists before 9/11/2001, except that Bush was able to ride the mass public grief to undeserved esteem. But like the Spanish people, the Americans are getting wise to the game.

30. 42 percent to 37 percent is not 'stolen'
When the Supreme court decides their election, I'd be inclined to agree with them, but when you lose by 5% of the voter turnout, you did not have anything 'stolen'. You lost. Teehee, 'get over it!'

35. That's the problem with being friends with Bush
you pay, and you pay, and you pay. You don't get much in return, either. You get lots of promises. But when it comes right down to it, they'll flush you down the toilet.

Like now. Poor Jose Maria Aznar had to find out the hard way.
