NEW YORK - As many as 60 people were injured when one of the Staten Island Ferry boats struck a pier at the dock on Staten Island, WNBC reported Saturday.

Police and Fire Department officials say the injuries appeared to be minor. They were unsure how severe the accident was or how much damage was done to the ferry.

5. The Barberi was involved in the notorious 2003 accident.
The Voith-Schneider propulsion system makes it possible to come in to the dock at higher speed because of it's high maneuverability.

6. I wonder
if this "news" will overshadow the news about who made huge profits by manipulating our financial system, again? When we teach our children how to prosper should we suggest that they practice "white collar theft" at every opportunity? I suspect that the wealthy do just that. Strive to raise the perfect sociopath so that he/she may realize untold riches.

it will.

It would do less harm if these finance wizards followed the example of Peter Lynch.

7. Media is S-P-I-N-N-I-N-G a web
One hour after the accident, local media here in NYC, started saying Coast Guard claims that the ferry lost power so this accident occurred.

PROBLEMS:
1) Coming so soon after the accident, How would CG know the cause? (Idea being that driver, pushed forward on throttle to make up for lost power).

2) Not one picture of the damaged ferry was shown despite NY1 media crew at the scene.

I think this is embarassing for NYC. and the media don't investigate anything independently anymore, just mouth whatever they are TOLD.
