Alaska US Senate Candidate Cited in 3-Car Crash
Edited on Mon Sep-06-10 10:44 PM by RamboLiberal
Source: ABC News

The Republican candidate who defeated U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski in Alaska's primary election has been cited with failing to exercise due care to avoid a recent three-car collision.

Joe Miller was involved in the crash in his hometown of Fairbanks three days after the Aug. 24 election and before his surprise victory was confirmed in the counting of thousands of absentee votes and questioned ballots.

Alaska State Troopers say Miller's vehicle rear-ended a vehicle driven by Denali Park resident James Raisis, who then rear-ended a car driven by Mark Lewis of Fairbanks.

More info here:

Miller told the Daily News on Monday he hasn't seen the $160 citation yet, but doubts he'll challenge it. He said troopers only cited drivers in the accident after learning a U.S. Senate candidate was in one of the vehicles.

Miller said he was not talking on or looking at a mobile phone at the time of the accident. Miller said he was "just driving down the road."

The day of the crash, troopers said it was unclear who was at fault. Beth Ipsen, a troopers spokeswoman, said Miller's high profile did not prompt the tickets.

"It's pretty typical not to cite drivers at the scene of a crash because many times the investigating trooper needs to sort out the information before making a determination on who to cite," she said in an e-mail.

15. Not likely. She conceded, and the Alaska GOP would have a massive revolt on its hands
If it imposed her as nominee instead of Miller.

Also, the state Libertarian Party said they wouldn't let her have their ballot line since, well, she's not a Libertarian or a libertarian.

Her only chance would be a write-in, and that never gets you elected up here.

5. Bad Republican driver pattern?
They complain about illegal immigrants driving without licenses and crashing and hurting others, but what would they say about their own (like Bill Janklow, Kristi Noem, and now this Teadouchebag)?

A car crash would make for a great campaign ad metaphor. Seriously.

11. It'd be interesting to know if he'd been drinking. I wouldn't be
surprised to have one of their state troopers smell alcohol in that situation, and knowing who he is, just get him out of there without a Breathalyzer test.
