BP to provide $10M to NIH for health study
Source: South Florida Business Journal

BP PLC said Tuesday that it will provide $10 million to the National Institutes of Health to support a study that will look into the potential public health issues coming out of the April 20 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, along with other spill-related health research.

“The BP funding will allow NIH to build on efforts by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Unified Command and is intended to support the immediate needs of researchers, including Gulf Coast academic institutions and local and state agencies, in understanding potential acute and long-term health impacts of exposures to oil, dispersed oil and dispersants,” BP stated in a news release.

Headline should read: BP bought NIH for $10M.

1. More here
Decisions regarding the distribution of the $10 million will be made by NIH with input from Gulf state academic institutions and state and local officials to ensure effective coordination with work currently being conducted. All project proposals will be peer reviewed by appropriate experts, and data, measurement information and findings from NIH-funded studies will be made fully and openly available in accordance with standard practice applicable to this type of research.

So I take you're suggesting that BP have bought off all Gulf state academic institutions and state and local officials too ?

2. According to you, buying the NIH is so cheap
If that were the case, why didn't any pharmaceutical company buy them earlier?

Read the actual article, BP is covering about 1/5th of the study's cost.

4. The entire $50M comes from BP
They just broke it up and gave a portion to each of the so called independent participants working on the study.

BP spends very little money on making restitution to the people hurt by BP's greed but spreads a ton of money around to The Powers That Be.

Another article today is out about how BP is managing the news by buying up Google's influence.

3. Great, they will use the $ to kill more animals.
They hid the evidence they already had, and will now force-feed animals oil to study its effects.
