13 say they weren't allowed to vote

SANTEE, Neb. — Thirteen people were reportedly denied votes Tuesday in the primary election for the Santee Sioux Tribe.

Among the 13 being denied a vote was one of the tribe’s four executive officers and another person who recently served in the U.S. military.

Cora Jones, who serves as secretary of the tribe, said she was one of the 13 not allowed to vote.

“The election commission is questioning our residency,” Jones said.
