Edited on Wed Jan-19-11 08:31 PM by kpete
Source: Raw Story

In the space of one year, Fox News has lost its perch as the most trusted TV news network in the US and is now average at best, a new survey has found.
http://publicpolicypolling.blogspot.com/2011/01/our-second-annual-tv-news-trust-poll.html

A poll gauging public trust in TV news has found that PBS is the most trusted name in news, while trust in Fox News has dropped significantly.

According to a survey from Public Policy Polling, "a year ago a plurality of Americans said they trusted Fox News. Now a plurality of them don't."

In a survey taken a year ago, PPP found that Fox was the most trusted news network, with 49 percent saying they trusted the network, and 37 percent saying they did not. In the new poll, 42 percent said they trusted the network while 46 percent disagreed.

26. The trust figure for Fox will never drop below 30%.
That being the 23% of Americans who are right-wing authoritarians, plus those who exploit them.

Or, another way to look at it is 30% of Americans are deeply, incurably stupid, and therefore they will watch Fox News until something that scares them more comes along.

I couldn't help but notice that NBC is right behind PBS. I'd like to think that people like KO and Maddow have something to do with that.

Maybe between Hannity and BecKKK getting dropped in Philly, and now this, people are somehow seeing the light.

50. I find this poll a little weird.
Fox doesn't have a nightly news broadcast like cbs, nbc, etc. IS NBC nightly news more trusted or MSNBC? ABC and CBS don't have Cable news networks. It's apples and oranges. I get that no matter what people thought they were "voting" for Fox's numbers went down, but what are we really comparing here? I don't have cable so the only time I see Fox News is during a presidential speech or a disaster that cuts into primetime.

61. 2010 Buyer's regret is sure setting in fast
It is amazing how the numbers on Obama, the parties, and the HCR bill have all really moved. It is interesting that this is happening to - one conjecture is that some have realized they were lied to.

If it IS this, then Fox and the right might have a tough time recovering. Once people feel they were lied to it is hard to get them to believe again. Let's hope this is not just a blip.
