Thousands protest in Jordan
Source: Al Jazeera

Thousands of people in Jordan have taken to the streets in protests, demanding the country's prime minister step down, and the government curb rising prices, inflation and unemployment.

In the third consecutive Friday of protests, about 3,500 opposition activists from Jordan's main Islamist opposition group, trade unions and leftist organisations gathered in the capital, waving colourful banners reading: "Send the corrupt guys to court".

The crowd denounced Samir Rifai's, the prime minister, and his unpopular policies.

Many shouted: "Rifai go away, prices are on fire and so are the Jordanians.''

2. nadinbrzezinski has been all over this and gave lots of info and updates last
night. It kind of got drowned out in all the Egypt news.

Do a search of her posts -- lots of 'coverage'.

12. I think there is a difference in Jordan
in that King Abdullah II is apparently popular. So I can definitely see him surviving, perhaps even declaring a state of emergency to let him rule by decree, while removing the unpopular PM and cabinet.

4. So, how long ...
before it makes it here? ;)

Just kidding! The US population is far too drugged-out on pharmaceuticals and self-medications and entertainment while pursuing goods from China-mart and buying into political profiteering. Shiny things matter more, for now.

11. Be careful what you wish for...
That much instability and change in a region like that, all at one time, has the potential to lead to bloodshed like hasn't been seen in many decades.
