Russia denounces Libya violence
Posted: 27 February 2011 1833 hrs

MOSCOW: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told his Libyan counterpart Musa Kusa by telephone that Moscow condemns as unacceptable Libya's use of force against civilians, the foreign ministry said Sunday.

In the telephone talks on Saturday "Sergei Lavrov underlined that the use of armed force by the Libyan authorities against the civilian population is unacceptable," the ministry said.

"Russia, and the whole international community, strongly condemns such actions," Lavrov was quoted as saying in a statement.

Lavrov told Kusa that Libya must respect human rights and ensure the security of both Libyan and foreign citizens.

His remarks were the strongest comments yet from Russia against the actions of Libyan strongman Muammar al-Gaddafi's regime as it struggles to stay in power.

4. The US has fewer legs than Russia.
The martyrs of Iraq and Afghanistan, the families of those murdered by the US, know this. The US credibility is mired is filth.

5. Quite true, though one does not detract from the other

Grozny and Fallujah looked very much alike in recent memory--indeed most of the major powers that see themselves as the world's chess players are really a rogue's gallery of sanctimonious hypocrites, with no business speaking on such matters. Of the strongest powers, it is really only Brazil, India({*}-excepting Kashmir), and China that do not have an aggressive hostile foreign policy; though Chinese business interests take them into very much less than desirable situations, nothing can compare to the trouble that the US, England, France, Russia and the like have historically and currently involve in on a very regular basis. Even now at this very moment, English & Italian arms sales permit a signifigant part of Captain Qadhdhafi's recent security force excesses, which they now suddenly have discovered to be a problem (though it's nothing that wasn't going on in English-occupied parts of Afghanistan or Iraq in recent memory for example);--but curiously, the Tunisian & Egyptian kerensky's (the "good guys", per the current NYSE scorecard) also open fire on their people right now, to none or no scale of the same critique that the rogue captain receives. The Bahraini king receives praise and support from the same crew condemning similar behaviors elsewhere. The aforementioned furniture company will be in business forever at that rate..
