Snyder Administration Picks Bobb's Replacement

DETROIT -- Local 4 has learned that Gov. Rick Snyder's administration has chosen Emergency Financial Manager Robert Bobb's replacement.

Dr. Vivian Carpenter, of Atwater Entertainment Associates, will replace Bobb when his contract ends in June, sources tell Local 4.

Carpenter runs Atwater, which is an investment company with a large stake in the Motor City Casino.

She has an extensive resume which includes deputy state treasurer for the Michigan Department of Treasurer under Gov. William Miliken. Carpenter has been a certified public accountant since 1977. She worked as an accountant for Arthur Anderson and Company.

The article never mentions the Detroit Public Schools. You have figure that out based on recognizing the name Robert Bobb.

So, in other words, Snyder put a casino accountant in charge of a school system. "Casino accountant." I dunno, that might make perfect sense. The financial accounting at DPS has often made for jaw-dropping news stories.
