Gas hits $4 mark, near all-time high
Source: CNN

(CNN) -- The average gas price in the United States has hit the $4 mark, just 11 cents shy of the all-time high, according to a survey published Sunday.

The Lundberg Survey found the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular nationwide was $4 on May 6. In July 2008, gas prices reached their all-time high at an average of $4.11.

Based on spot checks the Lundberg survey conducts, the peak may have come in the middle of last week at one or two cents higher, and prices might be starting to drop, said publisher Trilby Lundberg.

6. Not here...regular at most stations is $4.25 on average, and has been for a while
I don't think I've seen it cheaper, but with prices being what they are, I also don;t drive around looking for cheap gas. I have seen it higher than $4.25, though.

16. Gas prices have dropped 20 cents here in La Crosse, WI in the last week.
In fact, last Friday there was a 10 cent drop in one day which I cannot remember happening for a long, long time.

21. I wish that would happen here
10 dollars of reg gas barely gets my car out of the red/"please refuel" zone on my gauge, and I don't drive a guzzler. Reading here that others have noticed big drops has made me pay more attention to the stations on my routes... the ones that still post prices on their signs anyway, many do not do that anymore. One station I get gas at has gone down 4 cents. Yay, but it won't help me much until it is more like 40-50 cents, or more. My car's engine is crying out for super which I haven't been able to afford or justify for some time now (also getting worse mileage). She runs worse every single day.

24.  Car pooling and Gas flu (sick from the high price of gas),call in sick.
If enough people don't show up for work maybe the oil crooks and the banksters will realize the people are sick and tired of being sick and tired.
